Update… stopped my by LGS a few days ago, they sold me a brand-new OEM Glock LCI extractor AND bearing…for 8 bucks out the door… love it. So much for paying 12-15 just for the extractor online PLUS shipping….but the reason I’m wasting your time with this post is twofold.
First, they made me aware that, apparently the P320 trigger STILL isn’t sorted, they told me a guy who shoots competition recently had his hands in the air, no clothing or any kind of interference with the pistol or holster, and while his hands were in the air with a holstered gun, the gun went off. I’M ASSUMING he had an upgraded/recall trigger. They also informed me that, as I had also mentioned the P365, that the early ones also had trigger issues, but those have been solved effectively it seems for the P365.
Second thing is…OEM GLOCK PERFORMANCE TRIGGER…I got to try one out. OH. MY. STARS.
First tried a NIB normal Glock 19 gen5…just as we all expect with that. Mush, sizeable take up, everything Glock is known for in their factory trigger. I will say the box-stock Gen 5 trigger IS better than the Gen3, but still typical Glock.
Then I was handed another personal Glock (unloaded) that one of the shop salesmen has, with the Glock Performance Trigger installed. I’m not sure if it was the tuning/tweaking of the connector, or which connector he was using- I didn’t ask…maybe it was just the virtue of said product itself, but I was stunned. It was, by far THE most 1911-like trigger in a Glock platform I’d ever experienced...very UN-Glock-like. The takeup was so mimimalized, no mush or creep, and an ultra-clean break. I cycled the action again for a second helping. The same. Yes, please.
On my latest GST9 build, I have the Overwatch Precision PolyDAT, with the polished bar, NP3 coated minus connector, and upgraded trigger spring….mine has a bit of take-up & creep on first shot, then a crisp break; and if you ride the reset you get very, VERY nice crisp following shots that are, if I may say so, superb.
This GLOCK Performance Trigger virtually emulates that from first shot, on. Nothing impressive with its usual minimalist Glock aesthetic, but that’s a nothingburger once you fire it. MUST HAVE THIS TRIGGER.
I’d go so far to say that the break on this particular pistol, was ultra-close to my commander-sized 1911 that I had a little love given to the trigger some years ago….that sidearm, by the way, I’d sold to my dad when I was in a pinch the prior decade with the understanding that I’d get first right of refusal if he sold it (I’d buy it back in a heartbeat) …he told me two days ago he doesn’t have it anymore, that or the TZ99 I sold him when times were ultra-tough. I thought he’d keep them, as money isn’t a problem with him. Both are gone. Cest La vie…
Anyways, I LIKE the new Glock Perfomance Trigger, and see no reason as to why you couldn’t use it in your EDC sidearm. It’s not too light, but it’s crisp and sure. Y’all might give it serious consideration if you’re not wanting extra bling with your thing and simply seek a far better trigger than factory issue Glock. My guess is the pull weight was north of 4.5 pounds, and might be right at 5; but to quote Nacho Libre, “eeess niiiiiice.”
The finish on the gen5’s is attractive in an ‘all business’ sort of way. Some say it’s less durable than the former. I dunno but overall, it looks GOOD, albeit still the slab side Glock design language. Lol
It looks like the G19 gen5 has pole position in my quest (P365 is a second consideration now), and if wanting more capacity, a G17 mag w/XGrip, or the G19 mags we have with the 5-round extensions will be fine when concealment isn’t a consideration. Thanks!
