.22 break barrel proving a point

I used to have a RWS break-barrel .22 pellet rifle years ago. Not to be confused with your avg Crossman .177 simply because it was a pellet rifle. They are serious.

When I shot this air rifle (not mine), I got a cloverleaf group at 50 yards.

I took many, many ground squirrels in the 70's with mine w/headshots. hard hitting.

I use my air guns during the colder months to keep up my shooting skills. The ten yard range in my apartment has been a lot of fun, too. Velocities on most of my toys are only about 400 FPS so over penetration is not a concern with my current pellet trap.

Some of today's air rifles are impressive in both velocity and power. Many are excellent for hunting small to medium game animals.

Big bore airguns can take out deer. They have 50 cal now, also 45 and 357. 800 ft lbs, 1100 fps isnt unheard of.

These aren't your Dad's Daisy any more.

I have been noodling over getting one for quite a while. A really good one is $1000. But you have to spend another $1000 or more on the compressor. Extra tank... add $$$. Not cheap. But when you figure you dont have to buy expensive ammo it probably comes out as a wash.

These airguns are getting so good (and lethal) that I would not be shocked that the buyer will have to be background checked sometime in the not too distant future. Get 'em while you can.
