A thumb rest a gimmick?

To answer my question I gather few different styles of thumb rests to test for myself.

1. Chopped G17 with Amazon G17 Thumb Rest. Its cheap $16, east install and uninstall, has extra pic rail. There is no easy way to put this in any holster.

2. Dagger with Aligntactical G19 Thumb Rest. Expensive at $65, made out of metal, install is easy but must uninstall to disassemble the slide. This might be easier to mod, I have used tlr-hl OWB holster to try.

3. Micro Dagger with PRO LEDGE FOR GLOCK TLR7 SUB-GL. It is priced at $33, designed only for tlr7 sub. Havoc holster make one designed for this setup.

I like it, it does help ME shoot faster follower up shots.

Maybe you could look into making your own holsters. Then, you could encourage the rest of us to make our own.

I would like to "try" such a device. I looked at this company's website and they have them for a variety of models. GoGun They show a heat gun modding a Sig holster where the "gas pedal" replaces the take-down lever but I don't know how that would work for one that mounts off the pic rail on the dust cover. This pic is from their website illustrating the principle behind it.



Sig puts one on their P322 (.22LR) "COMP" model from the factory but I haven't found a Sig "armorer" to see if one is available separately in their parts book for my non-COMP 322. They DO sell them for the P320 (the second pic)...

Yes, for chopped G17, I used OT Defense's Phillips Tip. Color was not planned, I was testing frosty rattle can technique.

I emailed them if their products were P80 compatible since it bit pricy at $40+. They said NO!

But looking Gogun website, the picture of Gogun G17 and Amazon one I got looks exactly the same.
