I always carry a Swiss Army Knife (Super Tinker) AND another single-blade folder (Spyderco) or OTF MicroTech auto knife.

Last week, I was in my private office alone after hours. I closed the door to get it out of the way, so I could move something. It locked (the kind with the push-button) and I could not unlock it or move the handle. At all! I jiggled and jiggled to no avail. I was literally locked in, and nobody else was there to try to open it from the outside (not that it would have helped).

I didn't have any tools in my private office. But I did have my Swiss Army Super Tinker!

I used it to remove the screws from the door handle and took the mechanism apart, so I could "break out." My SAK saved the day!

I got a new door mechanism and installed it the next day.

They get upset when you bring one on a flight or so I heard so don't have one directly on your person then.

That's been the case for decades. No knives.... not even a SAK... in the passenger compartment on flights.

Some 20+ years ago, I was traveling to Indianapolis (for the 500). Our flight got cancelled, and we got rebooked. We decided to not check our luggage (planned to check it) and take it as carry-on. I forgot that there was a SAK in my bathroom kit. It got flagged at security, and I had to surrender it.

I had one similar to that I used to keep in my pocket. I got flagged going into a courthouse so stepped outside and "hid" it under a bush. Someone must have seen me because when I came out, it was gone. :( In hindsight, I wished I had walked the 1000' or so back to car but the decision was made and people in the city are scum...

I've been given that nickname before! 😁

Or was it McGruber?

You could keep a shotgun with a couple of breaching shells in your office. Best to shoot the hinges vs the doorknob. :)

I never saw the movie. So I've heard of the character, but no idea what the reference means.
Kind of a dumb teen movie: Superbad They're on a mission to get liquor so one of them can get laid or something like that.
One of the characters gets a fake ID and the name he ends up with is "McLovin". No first name (or last name?), kind of like Cher or Bono or Sting, I guess?

And, that was the funniest part of the whole movie.

Meow is wondering if you have seen Supertroopers.

I keep a mini SAK on my keychain, the flathead screwdriver has been used several times. Don’t leave home without one as well as a folder in the pocket.
