I just turned this into a blog post that is a little more "comprehensive" or "fleshed out" with a little more commentary and some vendor links. See what you think!

We're 10 months out still (June-ish 2025) on hearing the outcome of the Garland vs Vanderstok (frames / receivers) case, which will be heard in October.

That's a long time, in my book. It's a really long time for those businesses who serve the building community, which is effectively in limbo. We've lost the biggest company and leader in this facet of the firearms hobby, Polymer80. Polymer80 is no more. Gone. Out of business. And that fucking sucks.

I would encourage my fellow builders to consider alternatives such as buying and building serialized frames and, of course, all the parts that go with building guns.... barrels, slides, triggers, internal parts, etc.

Unserialized, "off-the-books" is certainly one of the attractions to building 80% frames. But most of us also own factory (serialized) guns, because... well.... we're not felons or prohibited persons. If you don't have an 80% frame (or two or three) that remain unbuilt, go buy a serialized frame! There are some amazing deals out there now! As low as $30 - $60!

Continuing to build serialized frames (temporarily) or unserialized frames that you've had waiting in the wings can help support those companies that are still barely standing.

Let's do our part! Let's support the industry and our vendors! And the bonus: It makes liberals cry! :devilish:

Build, baby, build!

You can still do 80%, just not Glock -- go for a P320, 1911 or AR. The US Patriot Armory sale on the 320 MUP w/ LPK is a pretty good deal. Or get a set of 4 MUPs at $70 each.

Ok Boss!

I have parts incoming for a PF45, aiming to make it a lightweight 10mm hiking/trail running gun. I was taking a FiveseveN because it is so light even with 21 rounds on board but I don't have confidence in that thing stopping anything bigger than a squirrel.

There are other choices available

USPA has Giesler and a few P80s
80% arms has gst-9
What about trying your hand with an AR ?
Sig is another
Maybe I'm confused??? Are you stating 80% Arms has 80% frames or they have FFL frames?
Can you post a direct link to the 80% frames?
I have linked below the only GST9s I see available on the link you have posted.

I've seen you put the link up for 80% Arms several times in the past couple of months and I've visited it every time you did. I only see GST9s as an FFL item and all the 80% items seem to be unavailable. And not being critical of your post but the GST9 as an FFL item is an overpriced FFL item at that IMHO. Just this past week you could buy SCT FFL frams for $30 and they were ready to go. A virtual clone of the Strike 80 in today's market. And when they are not on sale, you can almost buy 3 SCT frames for the price of a GST9. Just sayin' if someone is looking for an FFL frame.

EDIT to my post. I note that the GST9 links below appear to include the lower parts for the frame while the SCT frames do not.

Yep they are ATF compliant just like p80s ATF serialized ā€œ80%ā€ either wayā€¦ ATF compliant or ghost they are builds available to patriots that wish to make their own freedom. Nothing cheap these days. Itā€™ll get worse if we donā€™t win the court case.

The blog article is even more "fleshed out" now. I'm a perpetual editor! :)

Feel free to comment in the comments section below the blog article!

I've bought more internal parts in the last 3 months than in the previous 5 years. Some Glock OEM parts but mostly 3rd party. I very much want to support the Gen 3 Glock clone industry because having an "open source" non-patented platform (with the additional help of California only allowing Gen 3) is a window of opportunity that we may not see again for innovation and new companies coming into the gun industry. Freedom does not just mean freedom from government control but also freedom from corporate dominance.

Mars, yeah, you are hooked now.
Yes, Franken... I am. And I didn't even mention the new frames, slides, and tools of all sorts that I have recently acquired. Many of them at your recommendation. :ROFLMAO:

Hope they all serve you well. I've been wearing them out for years and they are still going strong. Amazon is a great source for sanding barrels and Dremel type attachments as I go through a ton of them. The green rubber bits do a good job of smoothing out plastic on the 80% frames.

Got this little guy for polishing. It does a fantastic job. It's a bit messy so make sure to have some cardboard or material behind and underneath it as once you go to ludicrous speed it throws off the rouge like a rooster tail.

Get some stainless polishing rouge. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000DD35C?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

Nice polish machine, I may get one to give my harbor freight drill a rest šŸ˜‰

I was shocked at how well it worked and I love the variable speed control. That is huge when you are adding the rouge or getting thigs polished the way you want it. I have the yellow wheel on the right for heavy buffing and on the left side I have the white cotton one with jeweler's rouge. Love it!

I don't think I have beat that, but I did just review inventory and tried to top off lower parts for 8 to 10 builds over 9mm/40. Uppers are maybe at four complete 9mm along with some tester parts I have assembled. Almost done with a build I had started before this OP. It was going to be on a 3D printed frame but I managed to crack it in the trigger housing area while working with it :( Pivoted to the SCT serialized frame. Will share the broken frame with the SCT build when done.
