And there is some DEBATE about whether the home owner / resident should be charged!?!?? LOL!

They don't say HOW the resident managed to defend himself and family (ending with the demise of the attacker).

It's ironic that the typical Aussie is a tough ass. Not just the men either. I found the women wonderfully aggressive. Yet the pop culture gives the appearance of being utterly pussified. I dont know how they ever passed such stringent gun control laws there.

I have been to Sydney and Melbourne a few times. My eldest brother worked in Melbourne for a couple of years back in the 80s. He wonders the same thing, because a lot of his Aussie friends and co-workers owned firearms.

There's a rumor that the only thing turned in during their infamous 'buy back' was old WWII surplus junk and the good stuff is still in private hands - in defiance of the law.
 
I will never understand or except all this sympathy for evil doers.
Dude breaks in - hell knocks on my door- with machete while wife an kids home. Hang his skin from the flag pole & let the dogs naw on the corpes in front yard.
