Video Ay, ay, ay... People are STUPID.

Sending a rifle round into the concrete floor... it could go anywhere. This dude has had no training at all.

This kind of crap is why I pay attention to new arrivals while I'm at the range. I also put down my gun and step back from the line periodically to do a quick check on how the other shooters are behaving. Thuggy looking dudes who are a little too giddy, really loud know-it-alls, totally clueless gun handling... I have left early more than once because I didn't like the way other shooters were behaving. Listen to your gut. Leave if something doesn't feel right.

Ditto!

Mega-dittos! ;)

Also add guys showing off to a girl or trying to impress a group of girls. Also people taking selfies.

At our Public Day at my (outdoor) range, guest shooters are to uncase their guns MUZZLE DOWNRANGE only and put the case on the bench behind them, out of the way. If the muzzle is oriented the wrong way, they are to flip the case so the muzzle is downrange before removing the gun. Or get yelled at by a half-dozen RSOs... :D

At the Action Steel I went to today, some guys in my group were commenting on how "nice and quiet" it is to be shooting on an outdoor range vs indoors. :)

Just the guests have to follow that rule (uncase / case guns with muzzle downrange)? Members don't???

I thought that was a universal rule at all ranges.

Although members are allowed to shoot during PD, why would we with all these noobs and RSOs around? :D And members DO follow the rules regardless--perhaps that wasn't clear.

My range is accessible with a key card to open the gate. Normally NO RSOs are "on duty" although we are ALWAYS on duty if you know what I mean. Oftentimes I'll go and have all the ranges to myself. If there ARE others there and I see blatant safety infractions I am obligated to advise and correct. For my safety and theirs. Potential members are vetted and skills verified before they get a key card. There are cameras everywhere but no one is watching--they are to keep safe people thinking safe.

Yeah, it sounded like the rule applied only to the non-members on "public day." Thus my confusion.

There's a private club (with a locked gate) about an hour from where I am, but I decided against joining due to their rule against concealed carry.

Just being an hour away was a "stretch." But I could overlook that for the benefits of a private club. But the prohibition of concealed carry was a deal-breaker for me.

My range has no stipulations on CC, BUT, drawing from ANY holster (IWB, OWB or other) at the firing line is against the rules. This goes back to the muzzle downrange at all times range protocol. The firing line and benches are on concrete so you can see how any ND could be dangerous.

The only time we ARE allowed to draw from a holster is during the Action Pistol events and that is under the supervision of a RSO although about 75% of us attending are also RSOs... ;) At that time we are actually NOT on the concrete but on the grass. And we don't make ready and reholster until we are in firing position. When done, it is show clear and holster.

Interestingly, the RSOs on Public Day are allowed to open carry and most do. We are the "cops" of the range. ;) I suppose this is to show anyone that might do something stupid that they will get lead poisoning rather quickly.

Ironically, this private range allows for drawing from concealment (or open carry holster). You just can't come through the gate with CC. 'Splain THAT to me. They tried to explain it to me when I asked, but their explanation defied logic as much as the rule itself.
