A lot of blah blah but I think it is saying Bambu is moving towards our software or nothing. Good luck Bambu owners.

It sounds to me like you need to approve access when your 3rd party software sends files.

Think Winblows requiring you to say "Yes" to installing software that you download.

At least MS allows you to turn that off, but I don't recommend that you do.

I also do not suggest using an administrator account for your main account.

When I first read about the update, they made it sound like you were going to need to do something like 2FA for every print. I think it is "just" that you need to use their software which knows the secret hand shake. They did step back and offer that the printer may be opened up as it is today in a "developer mode". I use their software, so I don't think this change hits me right now but yeah I do have my ears tuned to what they may try next. I'd actually prefer not to use the cloud aspect of the printing - opting for LAN mode only. I'd lose some features I like in doing so though. Arguably, using a 3rd party software over LAN and disabling the cloud feature would be what would actually make the printer secure.

My initial reaction was, "Here we go, I'm sorry Dave, I can't do that" Upon rereading, it seems like a good thing and innocent enough. However, further down in the article, it lists 3rd party slicers that it won't allowed to access the printer. So far, commercial slicers. What about when they block open source slicers?

If I had a Bambu, I wold be working double time figuring out to make it work completely off the cloud and off the internet. Too many conspiracy theories came true lately not to dismiss this. Just keep your guard up.
