Anybody know much about this guy? Or, if the story is true?

======================
Blake Masters is under consideration to head up the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for President-elect Donald Trump.

Masters met with the incoming president’s transition team on Thursday and is interested in helming the regulatory agency, two people familiar with the situation told Semafor. He lost two races for Congress in Arizona, this past fall and in 2022, while running as a Trump loyalist.
======================

They also mention someone else who I would really like to see be the Director - Brandon Herrera
But, I'm doubtful Herrera would be approved and would probably need a recess appointment to be installed.
Take note of his post on X about what he would do in the first 100 days. Very well thought out strategy to
disable Congress and certain to cause quite a mess. Next to Trump winning office, this could be ideal for
the gun community. Or, Musk and Vivek could move to try and scrap the agency hopefully, but I like Herrera's thinking better.

======================

Brandon Herrera, a gun advocate who narrowly lost a GOP primary race against Texas Rep. Tony Gonzales earlier this year, is also interested in the ATF position. He said last month he would “hack, slash, and cripple that agency in ways it could never recover from” if confirmed to the job.

For everyone asking why 100 days, ther answer is this:There are lots of laws on the books that would legally take an act of Congress to reverse.

However, the ATF can make “determinations” on the interpretations of those laws. I would love to use the ATF’s own game against them.

Rulings about how parts kits have to be cut, import restrictions, what is a brace, what constitutes a “silencer,” these are things that can be effectively rolled back through the right interpretation.

Once that’s done, I’d love to see the agency disbanded.

Recent court rulings say that the ATF can't make interpretations and must enforce the law as it is written. Garland has zero wins in court over the rule changes.

Unfortunately, the only way to flip the interpretations is to sue them. And each case takes years. Particularly if it is appealed to the Supreme Court.
Each rule they make has a five year life cycle or more to contest. I think they began the frame shit in 2001 and it will be 2025 before a decision and that was fast tracked only because the lower courts tossed it pretty quickly and it made it's way by short cut to the Supreme Court due to the DOJ bypassing it and wanting it fast tracked to the SC due to the quick double losses in the lower courts.

The bumpstock case took longer at I think 6 or 7 years.

The whole scenario for gun regulation in all the cities, states and at a federal level with the ATF is to throw as much rule making and law shit at the wall in the courts and just let it ride there in limbo for years. They know they can't get shit done in Congress, so this is the way it works.

Never heard of Blake Masters. Of course, the fact that I've never heard of him means nothing.

I disagree with his statement in the video that the SBR he's holding was "designed to kill people." Guns.... any and all guns.... have many potential uses or purposes. For the VAST majority of us, it's to punch holes in paper..

It is the USER that determines the purpose of the gun in the moment he or she uses it.

I hate to break it to you but small arms (including the SBR) ARE designed for killing things, including people. ;)

Of course you are correct in that the vast majority of them are/will be used for shooting at paper or other targets. :cool:

They're designed to send a projectile downrange at high speed. The end. 😜
