OK you aminals check it out new 80% module by defense distributed AKA now G80 , I see it's an 8 - 10 week commitment to order but if they have anything showing in stock come Friday ..... I guess I am in .

So, $320 just to get the frame going....

Perhaps it's just the perspective / angle. But this looks like a potential fracture line in the frame. Material looks pretty thin.

Though, this is an interesting concept.

So, I wonder what is involved in the finishing of the "receiver." And it seems the "grip module" would not need any finishing, eh?

There's really no information here.

the tabs sticking up on the metal rails need to be cut and smoothed and the barrel channel also has a tab.

It’s the same as a p80 or geisler no bending required.

So, we're talking about an entirely different set of tools and techniques to machine metal vs plastic.

yeah I guess so not unless you have the ghost gunner 3 then you can order the files to get it working on that.

I’m tempted by it but I think I will wait for a bit and see what people say about them in the coming months it’s still very new on the market.

I think to be successful, they will need more variety. Polymer80 took the "Baskin Robbins 33 Flavors" approach. Several models. Many colors.

Spyderco (knives) has taken this approach and put it on steroids.

It's one thing to get people to buy ONE product. It's quite another to get them to come back over and over to buy more.

At $340 to get started JUST on the frame, and then a design / model that's really a "one and done".... I don't see this going nearly as far as P80 did.

Sort of but with the $320 you at least get a reusable jig, figure all the AR router jigs run about this much and you don't get anything other than the jig , so no frame either , regarding the weak points I believe the metal grip module will provide enough rigidity that it shouldn't be an issue but we will see.

So figure there is an initial investment but beyond that the cost drops considerably if you are planning on building more than one.

Figure there is no actual force being directed at that angle and we also used plastic rear rails on the P80 Spectre frames.

As for variety I am pretty sure they will develop other frame sizes that will work with this module, P80 only did the Spectre initially too then branched out over the course of time. I personally hope someone develops an all metal frame for this module. But again time will tell.

At the end of the day I am just happy that there is something other than the 76% bridge frame and the Geislers

If the receiver doesn't flex , I think the frame might be immune from stress fractures. But I wouldn't rule it out. Depends on how good the fit is between the receiver and frame. How thick it is, etc. But if it's going to crack, you are right about where.

The price isnt bad once you pay for the reusable jig. If you are only going to make one... not worth it. Unless you dont care what it costs.

You better love this gun after making one. Given the SCOTUS decision I suspect there will be more red and purple on this map in the coming year or so.

Not sure this map is up to date- I believe CA should be red not purple

Every map I found was different. I read someplace that in CA you can build one but have to serialize it within 30 days. I dont know if that's factual or not.
