I recently completed the build-out of my first 80% AR-15 lower. Initially, I had the lower on a Colt 6920 upper for testing, but it now has a permanent home. I used the 5D jig with an anodized lower and lower parts kit from Right to Bear. The upper is a side-charger with a 16" barrel and a red/green dot sight from Bear Creek Arsenal.

I am seriously enjoying the side charging system. The overall results are pretty good considering I went very budget friendly with all parts. The completed rifle was just under $350.

The target below is 2" blue painters tape at 65 yards.

I'd like to try a side-charger one of these days. Is the CH hole closed off? Probably nicer with a suppressed gun...

There is a knurled knob on the rear of the receiver that must be removed to get the BCG out. The knob is easily removed without wrenches. It also has a flat side that locks the knob in place when the receivers are together. The charging lever must also be removed to access the BCG. Charging the rifle is easier than rear charging with an OEM rear charger or a Radian Raptor rear charger.

I shoot rifles left-handed. This receiver does not have a shell deflector, so I have had a few cases lightly brush my right cheek.
