Watched a lot of YouTube videos about the subject.
Tons of Pro's post their works, but none really gave me the confidence to try.
After I was confident in Electro Etching, I decided to try stippling.
SETUP
Already had a hot air & soldering iron workstation, only had to order tips and a metal brush.
Also ordered high tech fume extraction system and studio light.
BORDERS
Followed all the Pro's recommendations.
Draw a line, cut the line, recess the line, and sand it off.
Took it slow and went over the lines with different Dremel tips.
Tip - Glock case has a groove where I can put the frame and have it steady.
I wanna try quicker techniques, had a soldering iron curve pointed tip. (1st pic above)
I used the rounded parts to get GAP or HD border. A GAP or HD border has a big gap from the edge to the stipple. With a metal straight ruler, I went over the lines, on the curve went really slow with a steady hand. Much faster but it would ruin the frame if not careful.
STIPPLE
1 - "practice... practice... practice... and more practice''
2 - Brad said the highest temperature
3 - consistent pressure
I ordered tips from OT Defense.
Rectangle, Slat, Basket Weave, Oval.
As I was practicing, I had a major questionā¦
As a beginner, I would make a lot of mistakes
"How do I repair stipple mistakes"?
Found the solution at OT Defense.
They have blank tips. The purpose is to create custom tips.
But I use it to re-melt the plastic back down to the frame.
Each tip or different pattern I would try on a practice frame.
Yes SC frame was sacrificed for a good cause.
By re-melting instead of sanding, I was able to practice many times on a single frame.
FYI, there would be discolored every time you re-melt.
Edge did not always line up. Tried stipple the edge first.
Re-melted, oval tips on a diagonal pattern
For me, the oval tip seems the easiest to use.
Could not match diagonal patterns on the front and back frame.
Streight up and down pattern was much easier.
After months of practicing on the SC frame.
Ready to try on "CASPER" frame
oval tip with on diagonal pattern.
