If I put together a 17 Long

The 17L has become my new favorite. I didn't think I was going to make it a stand alone gun, I was just swapping the 17L upper on to a P80 frame I built for a normal 17 as I felt the need to shoot the 17L

I got a deal on a grey ghost precision stripped frame (it is a serialized version of a P80 with some custom grey ghost texture on the grip) and the 17L is now a stand alone gun.

After shooting it today (put about 150 on it today) I have about 350-400 rounds on it. No issues, she runs great.

Minor additions, I put a Ghost Unit connector on the GPT and put a polish on the pins

As it stands today, it will shoot the next steel match Nov 9th

Guns and old TV shows. Two hobbies of mine.

They're cousins,
Identical cousins and you'll find,
They laugh alike, they walk alike,
At times they even talk alike -

You can lose your mind,
When cousins are two of a kind.

Raise your hand if you know that its not a great idea to shoot a new gun in a competition even if your last 200 rounds through it have been flawless

I would raise my hand, but I guess I never learn

The 17L shot AMAZING yesterday, but unfortunately the match was today :D

I figured out what was happening, the rear sight adjustment screw was moving on me as I was shooting. I was chasing my tail with missed shots :D

I put a witness mark on the adjustment screw and sure enough after 10-15 rounds it moved

I put a glob of vibra-tite VC3 on the adjustment screw threads, will see how it goes (I have done this to my other adjustable sites, just completely forgot to do this one)

It was between me and another shooter tied for last place, I wear it with honor, I earned it.

I also think this might have been my highest round count ever of missed shots :D :D :D

At the Action Steel last weekend, there was one stage of 25rds that I just barely completed with an empty gun and two empty 20rd mags (40rds). That's 60% extra shots fired if you were counting... :D So a match that normally takes 150rds now would take 240rds! Fortunately, not every stage was like that but it was not one of my better days. :(
I DID beat my (our?) goal of not finishing last... :D

I think my worst was a stage that had 30 targets
I dumped THREE 22 round mags, so 66 bullets
and wait for it

left 3 targets standing I took penalties on cause I was out of ammo :D :D

so :D to get ready for the next stage

I loaded and carried a 4th 22 round mag because I came to shoot, and I shot more bullets than anyone, so in my mind I walked away the winner, no one else there put as many rounds into the berm as I did!

Another stage I changed mags "early" on the move thinking 20 rounds would get me through the 10 remaining steels. I sometimes have a "bad" habit of not retaining the mag while doing a quick dumpnstuff. I too ended up empty with 3 targets left.

There is math involved with some of the stages where it is almost better to just skip a target and take the penalty. ;)

agreed
however
more bullets downrange is more fun :) :)

plus I have to give my fans something to give me shit about
In yesterday's case its was random texts the entire day, so you know I "wow'ed" them :D

One of the better shooters on my squad gave me some sage advice on how to to do well at this game:

Shoot fast, don't miss.

I "tactically" left a target un-engaged yesterday. The dead giveaway is when the RO gives the unload and show clear command that sounds more like a question. I looked around for a while, tick tock tick tock, found the target I had skipped, realized the 10 points would be more than offset by the 10 seconds that had passed. 😔

Shoot fast, don't miss. 💯 🎯 👍🏻

Yes, I always do the "bonus" stuff. Some portions of stages are prone and optional because the "old-timers" can't bend down that far. But I've no problem shooting on my belly. :)

Not just the old timers. :)
