Illinois, the Most Sinister State in America

Illinois government is "evil and sinister!" Who knew? šŸ–•

Never had the misfortune to be a "subject" of Illinois and if I had, I would have found a way to move out of that place long ago and moved back to America! šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø
 
I had a neighbor from IL. He said all IL governors serve two terms. 1st in the State House, 2nd in the big house. And, he is a huge Democrat.
 
Lived in Illinois for 43 years. Still resent my parents for moving me there when I was 8. Left in ā€˜22 to return to my birth state of Florida. Shouldā€™ve done it sooner.
 
I lived in SE MO for a while, only time I went ā€œacross the creekā€ was to either get drunk or get laid. Never cared for the area much, little law around there. Worked in Cahokia for a few months, preferred MO. Was happy to have it in my rear view mirror when the job was done.

Most IL governors have been Republicans. And gone to prison. My sister lived there all her adult life. I could never figure out why. Shitty weather, corrupt politics on both sides, Chicago crime, and millions of acres of absolutely nothing but corn.

I did like the Illinois sweet corn. Way better than that east coast silver queen variety.

It's far worse. Gangsters knew what they were doing. And the penalty for failing to meet a goal or screwing up was guaranteed to end your career. And your pulse. :) Illinois politics are a clown show. Buffoons.

Letā€™s just say my blood pressure is a lot lower since moving to Florida.

I watched my once Republican stronghold of a county gradually erode into a Democrat stronghold through the most intricate and most convoluted gerrymandering one could possibly imagine.
 
I worked a few jobs there. Hated it the entire time. No median one extreme or the other.
 
IL runs a close second to being the most f-ed up state in the country. Dems stay in power because everyone is feeding from the public trough. If companies and people with money would leave, the tax base would not support this. Why that doesnt happen is beyond me.

Chicago has turned into a hellhole and it's headed for the same fate as Detroit. The inmates are running the asylum. The crime from the city is expanding into the burbs and the taxation is ridiculous. I don't get why people don't leave. It reminds me of the Sam Kinnison schtick where he wonders why starving people dont leave a place where there's NO FOOD.

They do leave Chicago for the burbsā€¦ā€¦.and then vote the same way as when they were city dwellers. One time at a Cub Scout dad ā€œcommittee meetingā€ (okay we went to a bar),
Damn near got into a fist fight with another dad. They were recent refugees from Chicago and I confirmed the typical after asking why they moved. Better schools, safer neighborhoods etc. Which led to discussing taxes and the like, and thatā€™s when the liberal propaganda started spewing from his mouth and he didnā€™t like the fact that I reminded him how it was assholes such as himself that leave the cesspool of Chicago and come to my nice suburb and then vote for the same shit they just left. Needless to say, he never came to a ā€œcommittee meeting ā€œ again.
 
I know how that is. I was sitting in a neighborhood bar with a friend in Baltimore and one of her neighbors happens by. There was something in the news on the TV in the bar about a shooting. So he starts yammering about gun control and I shut him down in about 12 seconds. He had no idea WTF he was talking about. Just spewing the usual baseless rhetoric of gun grabbers.

So the guy gets frustrated and starts insulting me because he is used to dumbfuck liberals agreeing with him. I just sat there for a few minutes and let him go on with his irrational rant. Then I looked at my friend and calmly said to her, You might want to tell this twat next to you that he's going to lose some teeth if he doesn't shut his mouth, get up and walk away in the next five seconds. The count starts now.

Off he went without further comment. With two seconds to spare. I'm sure he went home and told his cat all about it.

Moved from IL in the 1977 and went to TN.
At that time all I heard was "you ant from around here"
Now everywhere I go I meet people from IL
All seem to be conservative, even the people I meet from CA that have moved here seem to be conservative. I sure hope that those that move here have had a come to reality moment.
