I'm on the fence. This could be for daily carry. If I get it for my pf940c then it's for the range

I don't know much about compensators. But for carry, it occurs to me that you'd have to have a custom holster to accommodate the compensator.

Bingo!

With kydex you can often just chop the "nose" of the holster off to allow the compensator to stick through.

Just make sure you know how your holster retention works so that you don't break it when you modify it to suit the compensator :)

I usually use light-bearing holsters cause they are often open-ended anyways so sometimes you don't have to modify them at all.

Teir 1 Concealed has amazing holsters that work great with comped pistols

You mentioned a PF940C. The barrel you linked isn't going to fit based on the description.
Nope, he will need the PF45 frame. Think if I used a compact frame to shoot 10mm it may break in half. At the very least, would be a wicked recoil.

Beautiful Range toy !!
Comp on a carry gun might be over kill.
I have a KKM barrel on a G24. I would not use that as a carry gun. That barrel cost too much.
Also , the G20 will need a large frame.
Just Sayin'.

The benefits of a screw-on comp that wasn't designed specifically for the gun are dubious. It really doesnt improve the gun significantly. Just makes it longer and heavier. If the comp isn't indexed, you aren't likely to get any benefit. In fact, it may negatively impact your aiming.

For a defensive pistol, it's mostly a waste of money. If the gun comes 'comped' from the factory, there can be a marginal improvement if all other aspects such as your form, marksmanship skills, etc. are excellent. A comp doesnt make a mediocre marksman a better marksman.

I see a lot of blocks of metal in the market with a couple of holes drilled in them. This is mall ninja shit. A true compensator is a bit more complex. Comps also annoy the person next to you if you are a range shooter, which most people are. A shooting lesson from an expert would be a better investment.

The only compensated pistol I own is a Sig P365X-MACRO and I didn't buy it because of the designed in "comp." I bought it as my first striker-fired pistol because Brownells was running a sale and the 17+1 capacity in that small of a pistol really intrigued me. Up until that point, I'd only owned multiple 1911s and SA/DA hammer-fired pistols. I got to where I really like the P365X-M, put ~2K+ rounds down range with it before I carried it (now almost double that), but I still seem to prefer my old school 1911s and P229s.

Just remembered that I do have one other pistol with a comp; a SW22 Victory .22LR that's been "upgraded" with several TandemKross mods and is quite fun to shoot, but that's not a carry gun!

One of my Hellcats has the factory comp. I can remove it if I want. It's fairly small and doesnt require a different holster. Most importantly, it is designed so that if you do remove it and put it back on (as you would for cleaning the gun), it is indexed so it is always plumb. It makes a difference if a comp is off by even a couple degrees.

Is it better than my Hellcat without a comp? Sort of. The difference is miniscule. Muzzle flip is reduced a little bit. As I have repeated many times, in a defensive situation anybody who is concerned about tight groups has the wrong priorities. It's nice if your follow up shots are less affected by the unavoidable 9mm muzzle flip, but if you have good form and are practiced in defensive shooting muzzle flip is expected and manageable. Nice to have a little help from a proper comp but it won't matter at all if you are not practiced. or your comp is a cheap POS.

I'm not anti-comp. But one really has to keep the benefit of this accessory in perspective. It doesn't help anyones shooting all that much. Gun marketers are good at making people think they need to have to have the latest model, which these days is a comped version of their gun.

Ported barrels are a variation of the same theme. Looks cool. Has marginal benefit. Other than lighter wight. But there are some who believe they can win a match, get the girl of their dreams, be admired by their peers, envied by their critics, and good fortune will smile on them forever if they buy a slide and barrel with holes.

NOTE: On big huge bore rifles and pistols, a comp has a more profound effect. 50 AE and 50 BMG. To the point where it's necessary.

I thought this worth mentioning to any artillery enthusiasts reading this. :)

Agreed on all points! All things being equal, I'd probably prefer the P365XL over the same slide length X-MACRO, but the XL wasn't on sale at the time!

That there is funny and I'm definitely not one of those! 🤣
