MGB on ATF lies, BS and the ruin of gun building communities. A message to all patriots.

I somehow missed this post. Reading blog now.

That was a long one! Big surprise! LOL!

Good article. Copying my comment here:

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Well-written! I have long railed against the time argument. The amount of time it takes to build a PMF is as irrelevant as is the time it takes me to potentially exercise my 1st Amendment Rights to reach out to potentially millions of people with the click of a mouse.

Our Rights are binary in nature. As was said in MGB's article, either you have a Right or you don't. There are no gray areas. Contrary to the refrain of the tyrants, our Rights ARE fucking ABSOLUTE. There are no restrictions on our Rights. Prior Restraint has been determined unconstitutional.

I don't care if their secret felon was able to "build" a gun in 21 minutes. I don't care if it took 21 seconds or 21 hours. I'm fairly experienced at this point, and it still takes me a few hours just to finish the RSA channel block. But my work looks factory and is as reliable and safe as factory.

Either our Rights stand or they fall. But they cannot be taken from us. We can only SURRENDER our Rights. I swore an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States. That oath did not stipulate exceptions or "emergencies." And the oath has no provision for expiration.

So, I'm doing what I can to fight the good fight. I'm doing my part. We all have the potential to contribute in SOME fashion. United we stand, as the saying goes.

I am quite optimistic for a favorable decision by SCOTUS in the Vanderstok case. Given the Bruen and Loper Bright Enterprises (striking down Chevron Deference) decisions, I cannot see any outcome for Vanderstock other than favorable for us.

And I very much look forward to a resurgence of building and interest in building. I also look forward to a proliferation of manufacturers and merchants innovating and catering to this wonderful and Patriotic hobby. Finally, I hope that Polymer80 is able to rise from the ashes and come back stronger than before.

He kept harping on the build time. A P80 pistol can be functional in minutes with the right tools that are ready to go and by someone experienced with the builds. I do agree that there is very little chance someone can do it that quickly the first time, as the agents said, and have a functional firearm.

It. Doesn't. Matter!

Our Rights are not stipulated on whether exercising them is easy or quick.

We need to stop arguing with them on this FALSE basis. Debating them on this point only serves to VALIDATE their argument.

No, it doesn't matter but the number of times he mentioned it in his blog it seemed to really matter to him. He also said it shouldn't matter which, again, I agree. Garland will lose this one as he is like 0-10 in these cases as of late. The SCOTUS really likes when the three letter agencies change laws and make new rules.

I think it's human nature to counter even an invalid argument being made by someone trying to control you. I've fallen for it myself. But I continue my effort to not get pulled into it.

It occurs to me that arguing on THEIR basis (it takes little time to build a 👻gun) is akin to countering the argument that AR-15s aren't actually "assault weapons" or "military grade."

We're VALIDATING their arguments by engaging and debating THOSE (invalid) points. We're lending credence to their inane talking points.

Those "on the fence" or undecided will naturally believe the point is valid or relevant if both sides are arguing it.

That doesn't mean we can't debate them. But to be effective, we need to pivot to our factually and logically based arguments. Don't even acknowledge their emotionally-based fallacies.

"AR-15s are assault weapons that only belong in the military!"

The SIX-DECADES-OLD AR-15 is the most popular rifle in America for a number of reasons. Its light weight, adjustable ergonomics, and very low recoil (due to being the least powerful centerfire rifle caliber on the market) make it comfortable for anyone to fire safely and accurately. Those features also make it an excellent choice for both target practice at the range and self-defense for the entire family.

(See what I did there?)

"An inexperienced person can build a 👻gun in only 23.6 minutes!"

Building firearms for personal use has been a legal American tradition since the birth of this nation. It's similar to building your own hot rod in that there is a sense of pride in building something that is functional and uniquely your design or suits your personal tastes. Modern technology has made these hobbies available to more people, just as the internet has made information and Free Speech more accessible to more people. Over the years, millions have safely participated in this hobby.
