I bought this Viridian torch to install on one of my home defense guns scattered around the house in small Vaultec safes. I was distracted by my last gig almost a year ago and never got around to installing it. Finding it tucked away yesterday was like getting an unexpected gift.

The cool thing about this light is it's rechargeable. It comes with the charger and also a small battery pack that can be used to quickly recharge the light on the go. Or a cell phone. Different and kinda cool in a market full of lookalikes. It also has a green laser built in. I'm not big on pistol lasers. Never have been. But maybe I will start thinking it's a good idea when I'm 90 and crapping in my pants. Newbs and geezers love lasers.

It took a couple of hours to charge it up. I haven't tested how long it takes to do the quick charge from the battery pack. The features of the light are typical. Bright, not so bright, and strobe. You can also select laser only, light only or both. It's universal fit and will work on any pistol or long gun with a rail. Most of my home defense pistols are full size.

I'll reiterate my POV on gun lights: Essential for home defense, ridiculous for EDC. LEOs and agencies do not put lights on guns. They carry flashlights and train for that technique. There may be some exceptions but they are few. Special teams often use lights and lasers on carbines and subguns in CQB situations.

I've had a few Streamlight WMLs. I find them to be good quality. I can't justify the higher cost of the SureFire products. Though, I cannot speak from any experience with them.

And I just added "Lights" to the section title. Now "Pistol Optics, Sights & Lights!"

The forum is always evolving! Thanks for the idea for the tweak! ;)

Streamlight, Surefire are good stuff. Pricey though. If you need the guaranteed durability and performance the cost may be justified. Like red dots. You get what you pay for with Trijicon, DeltaPoint, ACRO, EOTech, Steiner. Combat proven reliability. Does everyone need that? Probably not. In my case with the Viridian, the gun it's going to be on sits in a biometric vault 99% of the time. I take them out and shoot them every now and then. Clean and lube. Once or twice a year. What I'm about to find out is how long the light can sit idle and hold its charge.

Olight, other significantly less expensive lights work fine. I've had a few cheap no-names come and go over the years. They always end up broken if you actually use them. Cheap materials or the thin battery cover gets cross threaded because the alloy was cheap, thin and too soft.

I've had an Olight on a G19X for 3 years and it has worked great.
