Hello, so i have done some research into making an entirely new pistol based off the HK45 and discovered that is going to be unrealistic and outside my skillset, so i would like to try to figure out if i can make the hk45 lower.

the issue is, the lower is made out of polymer and metal, and i don't know how they made it or how to reverse engineer it, does anyone have any ideas?

thank you

What do you know about firearms? Have you ever fired a pistol? Have you ever field stripped a pistol? Do you know the basic anatomy of a pistol?

i have fired a gun, i know the basic anatomy of a gun, i have taken the slide of a gun

i'm not a gun expert, i have not invested a lot of time and energy into this yet, i am simply trying to figure out if this can be done before i start investing a lot of time and energy into this project.

thank you

It sounds like you're waaaay behind on the knowledge curve. It's like saying "I flew on a commercial plane once.... How do I reverse engineer and build an F-14?"

You once took the slide off a pistol. So you haven't even field stripped a gun.

My advice... Buy a gun. Learn how to properly maintain and shoot it. Start there.

I still think you're a bot because you've posted a half-dozen different threads on the same subject. Create one thread and update IT...

I also think you will need to OWN a HK45 before you can "build" one. Are you 21 and over and not a felon? Is that particular gun "legal" in your jurisdiction? Is there a gun range near you that you can go to? You should answer "yes" to all three otherwise you are spinning your wheels and ANY gun will be an impractical purchase for your situation.

If you answered "yes" consider visiting a local gun store or retailer like Academy, Bass Pro, etc. Look at what they have, handle a gun or two. Buy local.

You can probably go to HK and download an Owner's Manual on .pdf for the gun which would be a start.

This LINK is just a quick search at GunBroker for listings under $1000. My guess is you will need around $800 to buy a HK45 new or used. You might be able to bid on one and get it for less but the market generally sets pricing. You can search "completed listings" to see what they are actually selling for but I'll let you do that... Before you buy on GB, you will need to find a local FFL that will accept shipment of whatever gun you buy. You'll also need to create an acct at GB and I believe they require some kind of bank info to weed out the strokers and scammers.

For a first gun the HK45 will be VERY impractical to own. (1) it is in .45ACP cartridge which is on the pricier side to buy and can have a good deal of recoil comparatively (2) it is going to be expensive to purchase initially compared to other .45 (or other caliber) pistols (3) magazines are in the $50 range which is on the pricier side, IMO.

There are plenty of decent guns out there you can get for around $200. I would not recommend a caliber bigger than 9mm in a full-size frame. A .22 full-size pistol is perfect for a beginner and would be my top recommendation. If you just want to plink around in your backyard, you could get this HK BB gun for $60ish delivered. All gun safety rules apply even with a BB gun.
