Looking for a new grinder- MEAT! 1hp or Lem #22 are the 2 I most like.
Any suggestions?? Personal experience with??
Depending on my deer season, I might do a cow and atleast 1 or 2 hogs annually.

Thanks

I have an attachment for my Kitchen Aid stand mixer. It's great for the small batch. Perhaps grinding up kittens for the Haitian food bank in town. Not suitable for a deer or other big jobs. I make sausage with it now and then.

I had 1 that I got from Dad, we had using since the 70s. Hobart I think?? Name plates were lost decades ago. What ever would fit would grind. Got spoiled and it gave up the ghost 2 yrs ago along with the slicer.
No way do I have the patience anymore to spend 8 hrs grinding. If a group goes out to clear the fields we may get 8 to 10.

Working on designing a seacrate into movable ( not mobile) butcher hut with walk in cooler.
I only want to do this once.

I've been grinding venison and all kinds of meat from 45 years now.
I started with a hand grinder then tried attachments on mixer. All work for small amounts of meat but I do four or more deer a year and both methods are not made for over a few pounds of meat.
I use a Cabela's grinder now, small but it still works for me. I grind between 15-25 lbs at a time. I'm just waiting for the day I can buy a real grinder from Meat Processing Equipment | LEM Products

Mrs. Pickerel told me to be seated after giving several warnings about grinding at a middle school dance.

I make all kinds of sausage from venison, pork, turkey and chicken.
People really should start making their own sausage, the stuff you buy in the store has at least 50% fat. The stuff I make has 10-20% fat and tastes a hell of a lot better. If you are looking for a healthier way to eat and cheaper make your own, you control the fat and other additives. We have not bought beef in years.

I make dog food for our little dog; my daughter make food for her big boxer too. If you are looking for healthy dog food I have some recipes. Just look at how bloated dogs look today, its store bought food that is the cause.

Ill most likely go with LEM #22. Got older meat tenderizer hand crank on a air compressor motor. Been thinking about using sewing machine motor/foot switch just to get it under 100lbs lol.
Hogs are getting bad here so will be doing alot pork soon.

Big hell yea on the dog food. Kills me and probably the dog to spend money on bag food. Saves about $1000 annually. Couple does on out 10 doe limit aint nothing. Knock the spots off 1 if need be grind cartilage an all. Dog loves it.
