New! New Jigs for the P80 76 and 80% PF940V2 & PF940C frames

Those p80 jigs look similar to @Benchies Go Boom jig
Which looks a lot like Mr Snow Makes jig.

A wise man once said that this hobby is built on the shoulders of giants.

…and that it is.

I have never heard of modulusarms so I can’t vouch for them. I can however, remind you a lot of times you get what you pay for. This jig is only held together by two screws and is probably very prone to warp. At that price point they have to be using PLA which is fine when done correctly but by no means is it perfect. My jig has 5 screws or securement points and I can tell you from experience and testing that all five are needed lol. Another company is also releasing a 4 hole jig that is a knock off cross between mine and DLD’s. They are at least giving it the good ole’ college try and at least using 4 securement screws. All these securement points were designed to combat the warpage the OEM red p80 jigs used to get.

Next thing I noticed was the jig is super slim. At first one might think this is esthetically pleasing (which it is) but is not the most practical. For the OG’s here they might remember my first iteration of my jig. It was about this same size. One of the many issues that jig (and I assume this jig) have is balance. Think about laying the frame and jig on its side to drill your pinholes. These slimmer good looking jigs want to lean and not lay flat. I have made a jig from a builders point of view, seeking feedback from builders and then incorporating those changes to get where we are today 😉.
Man this is getting a lot longer than intended.. sorry lol. I feel like I could almost right a dissertation on the topic of 3d printed jigs for firearms after everything I have come to learn.

I’ll end my rant with - if I am going to dedicate the time and energy to make a 76%er, I would want to use the best tools affordable possible. (Plus don’t forget that the PGB Fam gets a discount with code: pgb10) 😘

If anyone ends up trying out those jigs, please post about it here as I am always seeking to learn from other people’s experiences.

Note: They have a lead time of 2-3 weeks per their website.

Modulus is the "support vender" for the AR jigs from 5D Tactical and 80% arms to get around the purchase of jig & blank from the same place for the ARs. I am confident they'll ship. Doesn't mean this new jig is good.

I ordered one of each to have on hand as an option for when I get around to trying the 76%s I have (which coincidentally is one of each). I've seen some folks suggest drilling the holes using the standard jig and then lining up the front rails with the two pins to drill the 3rd hole.

Yea, for the price I was thinking it isn't going to be a super solid jig - no clue what the infill will even be. It may be I won't want to risk using them.

All I can say is that I had a small part in refining the compact jig. It was insightful passing my thoughts and ideas to Benchies Go Boom and then watching them come to life. I told him something ain't right, he ask some questions, I provided pictures and measurements as best I could. He fixed stuff, sent me a new version, I tested. By the third version, as best I can tell, his jig was dang near perfect.

I get that these frames are not easy to get or as cheap as they once were. If you want the highest probability of drilling holes in the correct place after working on you 76% , spend some hard earned $$ on the Benchies jig.

I purchased the V1 jig on my own. I told him something was off. He corrected the jig on his own and sent me a new version. It needed some tweaks. I gave him some information and he fixed it. I paid up front for his jig and he stood behind his product until it was good to go. I'm not sure the jig on Modulus is as refined. He provided nothing to me for free other than a corrected jig.

Modulus is the unassociated jig seller because we all know that jigs and frames need to be separated at birth to make it NOT easy to build these. Just play the game. All I'm saying is Benchies makes a good product that can drill more than one frame and do it correctly. Roll your dice as you see fit but I would roll them towards Benchies goes boom. I have no idea if Modulus tested or even cares if the jig works. Benchies has and does.

Your feedback on the jig was invaluable and much appreciated. It even carried over into the full size jig. I truly appreciate the support from the community and all the kind words! Thank you 🙏🏼

That makes sense about modulusarms. That also explains why when I reached out to 80%arms a couple weeks ago to see if they wanted to carry my jig they ghosted me lol. MAS Defense does the same thing with ghostgunjigs. MAS actually reached out to me a little over a month ago to see if we could work out a deal for them to carry my jigs. They asked me to send one to them for free (I did) in hopes of a partnership. Ultimately they didn’t want a 30% wholesale price cut for a minimum order of 100 units. They also asked another close friend for their jig in hopes of a partnership and wanted a jig for free (they sent one) for them to inspect as well. Long story long, ghostgunjigs/MAS Defense now has their own version out (or taking pre orders) (the jig has changed twice over the past two weeks lol) on their site for $39.99? IMO MAS Defense is pretty shady and I personally will not support them 🤷🏻‍♂️.
I say all this to confirm bkbrno’s assesment that a lot of these companies seem to have rushed different jig versions to flood the market. Almost like it’s a price war race to the bottom lol. I’m a firm believer in buy once, cry once. I could easily offer a cheaper jig very similar to all the others. (Please let me know if y’all want that?) Remember though, the pinholes are a super important and critical part of the building process. Why would you want to compromise that?
