So, i started this build last November. I got it 95% of the way, & then had an issue where the trigger would fire when resetting if there was ANY pressure from the finger pad on the shoe at all. Tore it apart a few times & could not figure it out.

Shelved the build until two weeks ago.

I put an armorer’s back plate on the slide & saw it. The cruciform on the trigger bar was flat, with no upward pitch at the back & sear engagement wasnt near enough.

I ordered a pre polished & smoothed OEM trigger bar from Tactical Pontoon, installed it, instant fix.

Its cycled ten mags worth of snap caps, passes all function tests, & is finally ready for the range. This was eating at me so i really wanted to solve this puzzle!

FINALLY DONE & RANGE READY!

Looks great 👍 Always go oem!

I cheated a little bit. Tactical pontoon has polished & smoothed oem bars so i ordered the replacement from him saving me a lot of work. The first bar that was defective was oem too, the cruciform was simply out of spec.

Here’s a link to tactical pontoon, the guy shipped my new trigger bar within 24 hours & i had it in hand in 3 days. Excellent business.

One other little thing i did for this build was create a flush fit 15-round oem magazine, with a special baseplate from Classy Raptor Tactical.

Holy $#!t this is one finicky, frustrating build. I decided to go to the range after work with a limited amount of ammo. I took the gun, both OEM mags, a target. The gun ITSELF ran ok. It feeds, cycles & ejects flawlessly & the trigger works great.

Now for the bad news: NEW PROBLEM UNLOCKED. The Zev Extended Magazine Release will not hold onto mags. Within two or three roubds fired, the mag comes out on its own. I thought at first my hands were bumping it. So i shot right handed only. Same problem. Both mags.

So i cupped my support hand under the mag and held the mag in so i could atleast finish a couple mags. The gun ITSELF is running great, it shot just a little left. But the F#%*+*% mag release isn’t working.

So, i came home, adjusted the sights, & replaced the Zev magazine release with a Hyve magazine release i KNOW works, as it was previously on my second G17 build & worked fine.

HOPEFULLY this is the last hiccup/bug with this build. Needless to say, i am frustrated with this G19 build. Such a nice gun & it just wants to fight endlessly it seems.

Picture of the Hyve mag release attached to this post. And second photo is the extended zev i removed, & the target from today.

I believe Zev makes their own frames so it may just be different enough to cause issues. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong as I have no direct experience with their products. I'd stick to known Gen 3 compatible brands or vendors that sell Gen 3 compatible parts. The only aftermarket mag releases I've ever had issues with are on the large frame models.

Yes, thats why i swapped the zev out. Its been replaced already with a Hyve, thats known good/working.

This exact one is now installed. Hopefully this solves the mag problem. If this solves that problem its finally done. The hood news is it flawlessly shot cci blazer brass & speer gold dot 124 gr +P. The only hiccup was the f*#%^*# mag release.

Here’s what’s wild though: the Zev release works awesome on both my G17 builds/P940FS builds. Pictured below w a Zev installed. So i dunno— but the Hyve was on this full size first & i know it works it worked on this pistol. So it is now installed on G19.

Is your magazine hitting the magwell? If you have the 17 round magazine from a full size gun try shooting with that. It looks mighty tight around that magazine baseplate...

I checked, i can run the corner of a business card between the mag base plate & mag well all the way around. With all mags.

On the left: inside surface of the Zev release where it fits with the mag.

On the right: inside surface of the Hyve where it fits with the mag.

I put the hyve up to the notch in the mag just the two. The hyve literally locks into the groove/notch.

The Zev barely makes contact & is hard to hold on the notch w/o it slipping. Im certain this is the issue.

this is crazy. The whole inner notch of the hyve fills up the notch in the mag. The Zev barely makes contact.

I'm too lazy to do it but but somewhere there is a list
of known PMF's failures by parts peddler. An example
of the Zev magazine release failure you just delineated
would be in it.

It's a nice build you did. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Ok, i’ve removed the faulty Zev mag release & replaced it with the known working Hyve mag release. I took the magazine well off and really looked at it & did some additional sanding to be sure its not interfering. The new 15 rd mag & Strike Industries +5 extension arrived & i set that up. I also tested mag fit & hold best i could. I think its ready to go back to the range to re test. 🫤
