Random prints, gun related or not

Our dig partner just got and Ender 5s1 I’m pretty impressed with the print quality at 120 speed and the magnetic bed. Printer this figure about 6” tall with no supports or adhesion… stayed right in place with just the soles of the shoes on the plate. Very smooth print. PLA that comes with the kit.

That is pretty impressive. Those feet aren't that big. I have a couple pieces that they have said you don't have to use the supports, but I always do. Now I'm going to have to experiment some more.

Designed this for a friend's boat, is a switch cluster for all the 24 volt power, printed in the petg cf I was talking about

Depending on how far you want to go. I started with a qidi xplus. It's all fully enclosed and comes with a regular and hot end, so you can pri t nylon cf...I've seen a few brand new ones, or actually the xplus 2 going for $300.

I was pretty happy with it, until I saw the qidi x cf pro. They spent 1 1/2 years dialing it in to focus on nylon cf.....even on the box it shows an ar15 lower. It was only about $600. I run it continually and only print Nylon or CF...it prints beautifully. Never had a single issue with it.

Then last week a bambi lab popped up for less than $1000....ended up grabbing it for $750...guy used it twice.

The deals are out there...
I started watching a video last night of the elegoo Neptune 4, for the price it seems Luke an incredible machine. I am going to do a bit more research but may very well retire my rep rap build in favor of this

That Elegoo Neptune 4 looks promising. I'll let the early adopters work out the bugs. I would like a new machine but can't really justify it when I have a working printer. I was thinking of upgrading it to linear rails but watching a few videos, they don't do any good. They may introduce more problems because there is no give.

The minor problems/issues I have with my Ender 3 are mostly addressed by a cube design and that is the direction I am looking. Dual Y axis servos may be all I need. Core xy looks interesting and fun. I need to build an enclosure so I can print nylon. I do know that I am staying away from anything cloud based or proprietary. You never know when the internet is going to glitch and then you are dead in the water until it comes back. Or, "I'm sorry Dave, you can't print that."

Sounds stupid but I printed a grate to go over the garbage disposer and it was glorious. My kids are gifted at getting everything but food scraps to fall in the disposer. It makes a sickening sound when it tries to grind up silverware. I printed it in PLA and it is all warped and shrunk from pouring hot water down the drain. I'm thinking something higher temperature will be just the ticket. Nylon seems to be best for this.

I'm in the same boat, I love my ender 3 pro. I wish it was faster though. It seems 65mm/s is about where it's happy. I thing if I upgrade it I will build an enclosure, and a sprite direct drive extruder. Maybe the dual z axis but for that money spent I could buy an ender5

I'm definitely enjoying the petg cf series. I have issues with the petg stringing, but tweaking the settings helps, enabling coasting made the biggest difference

You should be able to attach .stl files here.

Or do we need a dedicated section for STL files?
As long as your OK with it we can put them here, I can change the name to incorporate. Stls

Unless you are trying to minimize exposure to your STLs (i.e. not share them with the masses), I'd recommend using sites like Odysee or Cults3d to post STLs. You can share the links on a post here, but I think you'll have better exposure posting on dedicated modeling sites. As a bonus, if you come up with something nifty, you may even be able to make a few bucks selling it. Just my 2 cents...

Don’t think files from a PC can be linked here. I assumed they needed a host on line like maybe shared google doc, odysee or other hosting platform. If you know how to get your stl up here without using a host…please share 🙂

I think the 3D topic can provide space unless posting of files gets huge.

I just copied and pasted mine when Navy asked for it. I'm not sure if he was able to use it or not, but the few people who have puttheir stl file up I have had no issues downloading them.

STL files (and any other type of file approved in the forum admin control panel) can be attached just like a photo file... with the "attach files" at the bottom of the message posting box.

I tried C/P using windows 10PC get invalid file. Does this work ? I used attach files

Edit- I was able to open on another PC not logged onto the forum so…very cool. I do agree with @Viking2721 … a pin or subforum under 3D for stl uploads would be cool in case files get deleted on the host which happens time to time. Not sure how much space they take up . Can’t image they are more than photos.
