Saw the film last night. The critics are panning it.
Dennis Quaid nailed Reagan's voice. Less so on the mannerisms and body language, but he still captured the essence of the man.
This film will not resonate with the under 40 crowd as they didn't experience the times, plus, they don't think it's important to know about things that happened before they were born.
But for those that did, and for those that desire a history lesson, it gives an overview of the times. Not a graduate level course, but more than the kids are being taught in school these days.
If nothing else, you need to see it and get the young folks to see it to show them what a president was like before he was just a popularity contest winner and was actually a diplomat and a statesman. Watch the Brain Shul video where he says Reagan ordered the SR-71's to boom the negotiations every 30 minutes with the (I believe) the Chinese. He said there was a president who knew how to use the SR-71.
The KGB called him a "Cowboy". I think we are overdue for another Cowboy in the Oval Office...
This was the only film I have ever attended where the entire audience erupted in applause after the closing scene.
