Saw the film last night. The critics are panning it.

Dennis Quaid nailed Reagan's voice. Less so on the mannerisms and body language, but he still captured the essence of the man.

This film will not resonate with the under 40 crowd as they didn't experience the times, plus, they don't think it's important to know about things that happened before they were born.

But for those that did, and for those that desire a history lesson, it gives an overview of the times. Not a graduate level course, but more than the kids are being taught in school these days.

If nothing else, you need to see it and get the young folks to see it to show them what a president was like before he was just a popularity contest winner and was actually a diplomat and a statesman. Watch the Brain Shul video where he says Reagan ordered the SR-71's to boom the negotiations every 30 minutes with the (I believe) the Chinese. He said there was a president who knew how to use the SR-71.

The KGB called him a "Cowboy". I think we are overdue for another Cowboy in the Oval Office...

This was the only film I have ever attended where the entire audience erupted in applause after the closing scene. šŸ˜²

The country was in a funk and Reagan made people proud to be Americans again. Trump has big shoes to fill if he wants that to be his legacy. A lot of democrats voted for Reagan. He knew how to talk to people.

I respect things I have seen about Dennis Quaid re: the movie. I kind of don't want to see it more because I feel like I've lived Reagan. I was pseudo aware of Carter, but Reagan was the one I remember most as becoming engaged with. I appreciated Johnny Carson's satire of him - the whole remake of the "Who's On First" Abbott and Costello routine was priceless. Back when comedians made fun of everyone.

I have only seen the trailers for "Reagan" so not able to comment.

A little OT but Mark Levin "interviewed" Trumpy on his show "Life, Liberty & Levin" this past weekend. Both Sat. and Sun. shows. I don't watch his show regularly, but used to listen to his radio show until the local "news" channel went Spanish. :( I still listened online on occasion. Mark's preludes and summaries point out that Trump spoke for an hour and a half (or something like that) on many diverse subjects quickly and intelligently with no notes. Love him or hate him, that is one trait I really admire about him. :)

I went to see "Reagan" Friday night. I thought it was a fantastic movie that was very well put together. I lived through the Reagan years too. I also have vivid memories of Carter. He was a moron with a kind heart. He still fits that description today.

This is pretty much the way it is. The film resonates with the Boomers that lived in those times. The later generations are like, meh.
This is a problem with the younger generations. They don't know what they don't know when it comes to history. It's not being taught in school anymore as evidenced by my conversations with 20 and 30 something co-workers. If it happened before they were born, they say..."Why do I need to know that." It's pathetic.
