These crafty Germans at Boba Motoring have created a VW Rocketship in the guise of a 4WD Golf with 1100 h.p. that goes 0-60 in 1.6 seconds, and 1/4 mile in 8.2 @ 176 mph!! o_O When I was in HS, that's what the Pro-Stock cars ran!!
I want one for just one day to fuck with all the Mustangs and Camaros. Watch them tell their friends they got beat by a VW!! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Back in the early '80s, I test-drove a Golf GTI. A factory hot-rodded GTI. It was amazingly quick for the time.

Then in the late 80s, I almost bought a '88 Toyota Celica All-Trac Turbo. At the time, it was crazy fast. But I ended up buying a "sensible" Honda Accord.

I had a 1990 GTI back in the early 2000’s and it was a ton of fun. I miss that car some days.

My brother had a Scirocco. Late 70s. Can't remember the year exactly.

What's the stuff on the asphalt? Glue?
Looks like it rained exactly on the portion of the asphalt where they accelerate and zero spinning tires.

They need this goo in the turns on the road courses for LMH cars in WEC. The guys could black out in an endurance race. Particularly if it was an oval. But, they don't race on ovals.

8.26 @176 is crazy fast for an import.
Wild rides, that car is a handful to drive.

In the early 1980s, even a Corvette was a 15 sec 1/4 mile car. 😔

yeah... amazing how much better performance we get out of engines today.
A lot of it was the strict emissions --I think started in 1972? Cars from the mid to late 60s and early 70s were pretty badass. Or badass compared to the mid 70s though mid 80s anyway.

True. But now, the power to displacement ratio has improved dramatically.

My Subaru STI... from the factory... 300 HP from a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder! Bone stock! 0 - 60 in 4.5 seconds! For $32k back in 2004. Crazy performance for the money.

True. It's pretty amazing the HP they get out of engines today, engines with the same CID, even naturally aspirated engines and especially so with forced induction engines.

He used to take it on the autobahn and troll for Porsches, Ferraris, and Lambos. Was fun watching him blow the doors of unsuspecting motorists.

I can relate to that my 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX bone stock ran 15.5 sec 1/4 miles times. Got it down to 12.2 sec with about 425hp and $20k later.

15 sec 1/4 mile from a Chevy small block was very good in the early 80's. Everything was slow then except the 60's and 70's muscle cars.

Looks like a belt-driven-cam FSI 2.0t (Direct Injection, 2005-2010, ~200hp stock) probably mated to a similar vintage AWD DSG from an R32 (2008ish, 3.2L VR6) or maybe it all came from an Audi S3. Or maybe it started life as a Synchro model? That thing MUST be a handful to drive! I had a GLI about that vintage with the 1.8 16V. Only 125hp, though...
