I have never been a big fan of Safariland holsters in spite of their popularity with those who carry duty guns. They work great, are rugged and retention is the best in the business but I just never warmed up to them. Mainly because of their bulk.

I also got a major stick in my ass with Safariland over the expensive open class competition holster I bought from them. They discontinued the model I purchased and don't have any parts for it. A couple of the plastic parts wore out and I lost the inner belt. Left it at a match. When I inquired about replacement parts they offered a lame (10%) discount for a new rig. Grrrrr.......

The new cutdown holster they call the Schema interests me though. The price is reasonable so I may give it a try with my EDC Hellcat, which has always been in a Vedder IWB. For EDC, I am all about light weight, less bulk, and of course concealability.

Product support after-sale is always important to me when it comes to necessary maintenance items.. I’d be uhh, excuse the pun, gunshy of buying another product from somebody that may leave you in the weeds later on for the same reason as your prior experience with the same company.

Having said that, it does look interesting, minimalist, and not at all bulky like many of the Whizbang kydex rigs today (and like both of mine from two different companies).

Not sure how I feel about a skeletonized holster for IWB. Seems like a lot of lint and grit will get to the gun.

Possible. I'm very OCD about keeping guns and gear clean. I don't know if that matters for me. I'm shooting all the time and clean my EDC and holster once a week without fail.

I spray QuickDraw on my Kydex holsters when I clean them. Some may think it's gimmicky but my experience is the stuff works. It's a blend of silicone and lanolin. It helps keep the holster free from grit and from otherwise working on the gun's finish. Petroleum based products can degrade Kydex and the rubber grommets found on a lot of holsters. QuickDraw makes the holster slick but has no negative impact on retention. One can lasts me a year. A quick spray and wipe off the excess.
