Decided to try the serialized SCT 19 frames. Wanted to have some serialized frames around to complement the number of unserialized pistols. Because my local FFL charges $35 for up to 3 firearms, I ordered 3 SCT 19 frames from Primary Arms. They are listed at $49.99, but with military discount got them for $44.99. Shipping ended up being about $20 with FedEx 2nd day and with tax ending up being right at $165 shipped for the 3. When I added the $35 transfer fee, I’m putting these down as costing $67 each. As almost always, Primary Arms shipped these the same day ordered.

They come in a simple cardboard box with a frame cut out. The frame includes the rails but no pins. Only have the 3 pin or 2 pin holes (depending how you call it ) set up like Glock. The first 2 frames went together very quick. I used a OEM connector, trigger, trigger bar, housing and spring and an assortment of leftovers for the remainder of the frame. If anything, one of the trigger pin holes seemed a bit large but I suspect it will be fine. I took an assortment of slide/barrel assemblies on each to do the basic tests. Both frames worked immediately with Glock OEM, Durkin, PSA Dagger, JSD Patmos, and US Patriot slide/barrel assemblies. Very happy with first two.

And then the third got to be a bit of trouble maker. Again, I used OEM trigger assembly and assortment for the rest. The issue I had was the front crossbar was hitting the bolt lug on all 5 of the different slide/bolt assembly manufactureres. After a bit of trouble shooting noticed the nose of the frame droops a bit - which is BS. I ended up polishing the front crossbar a good bit and eventually got 2 of my PSA Dagger slide/barrel assemblies to work. Have not had much look with other manufacturers - must be something with the tolerances or an out of spec front crossbar. I don’t see how the droop in the nose would effect it, but suppose it could somehow with the frame structure. The front and rear rails are parallel. So the 3 SCT frame seems very deja vu with some of the issues I have read about some of Strike frames with the nose droop and crossbar.

So I’m giving the SCT 19 frames a C overall - 2 perfect and 1 not so much. I plan on reaching our to SCT to see how they respond but suspect if they do offer any remedy, it might be a PITA. I will keep you posted. I guess I’m also going to need to try the nose droop self-help repair process in the resources section.

Below is a picture of the 3 as well as photo of nose droop. I like the grip on the SCT 19. It seems a bit finer than the Polymer 80 but not as fine as the Glock. One noticeable difference is how far the 15-round magazine sticks out for the SCT 19 when compared to a Glock and Polymer 80 frames from - see third photo. Same case with Glock OEM and Magpul magazines. I found that a bit odd.

Quick follow-up. I contacted Primary Arms about the drooping nose on the one SCT-19, and they put me in contact with SCT. SCT was very responsive. I sent them the defective frame, and they sent me a new frame within a week. It looks good and now have 3 very nice SCT-19 builds. A big thumbs up to the company.

Firearms101...great post and fantastic CS experience from SCT. Thanks for sharing!!

Oh- a question....how would you compare the grip feel to the p80 variant? Identical? Better? Worse. less 2x4 like? etc...thanks!

Here is a short G19 comparison among P80, Glock, SCT, and Palmetto (PSA) Dagger. For grip texture/coarseness, I would rate the P80 the most coarse then SCT, Glock, and PSA, respectively. PSA definitely has the finest texture in my opinion.

For overall comfort of grip and the contours, for me I would rank them the same as coarseness: P80 the worse (2x4) and PSA the best. I believe the Glock is slightly better than SCT. However; it was really a toss up. I’ve include a couple extra photos so you can visually compare the grip designs.

Never seen a frame droop like that before

I just picked one of those frames up for a G23 budget build. Troubleshooting parts was a pain, i didn't use OEM Parts in the frame (PSA Dagger parts, Shadow Systems parts, random P80 parts not marked in my spare bin.)
No problems with a PSA Dagger slide after putting 200rds through it. All Magazines worked no problem cycling and dropping free.

Swapping to a Patmos G23 complete slide is giving me FTF with an OEM Glock mag (it fits EXTREMELY tight in the frame when loaded with more than 7rds) and Fiocchi 170gr TC FMJ. I will say with underwood full power ammo that my hands did not slip or shift from recoil thanka to the stippling and grooves on the front strap/backstrap.
Not sure if my issue is ammunition, ejector or magazine related but changing away from Fiocchi seemed to eliminate the FTFs.

I would say the cheap price gives a builder more options for better parts given a specific budget. I did find that there was a spot on the beavertail that dug sharply into my hand, some sandpaper and a diamond needle file re-profiled the contour. 6/10 but I LOVE the straight grip angle, it's my first non-Glock grip angle and i won't go back.

Hey, thought I posted an answer this morning but it isn’t here. Hmmm …

Anyway, I use a Tango Down Vickers Tactical Plug for Gen3. They work in Glocks, P80s, and SCT frames. I like the look with the magazine being generally flush. Here is link to Primary Arms - typically lowest priced. There are also made in FDE and gray. I think Midway USA has the 3 colors.

Not good for lefties. The higher undercut has my trigger finger inadvertently pressing the mag release during recoil. This has happened to me rarely on the P80 frame, and never on a Glock frame. I have not tried the PSA. But even from the photos you can see the SCT is the biggest offender for lefties.
