Decided to try the serialized SCT 19 frames. Wanted to have some serialized frames around to complement the number of unserialized pistols. Because my local FFL charges $35 for up to 3 firearms, I ordered 3 SCT 19 frames from Primary Arms. They are listed at $49.99, but with military discount got them for $44.99. Shipping ended up being about $20 with FedEx 2nd day and with tax ending up being right at $165 shipped for the 3. When I added the $35 transfer fee, I’m putting these down as costing $67 each. As almost always, Primary Arms shipped these the same day ordered.
They come in a simple cardboard box with a frame cut out. The frame includes the rails but no pins. Only have the 3 pin or 2 pin holes (depending how you call it ) set up like Glock. The first 2 frames went together very quick. I used a OEM connector, trigger, trigger bar, housing and spring and an assortment of leftovers for the remainder of the frame. If anything, one of the trigger pin holes seemed a bit large but I suspect it will be fine. I took an assortment of slide/barrel assemblies on each to do the basic tests. Both frames worked immediately with Glock OEM, Durkin, PSA Dagger, JSD Patmos, and US Patriot slide/barrel assemblies. Very happy with first two.
And then the third got to be a bit of trouble maker. Again, I used OEM trigger assembly and assortment for the rest. The issue I had was the front crossbar was hitting the bolt lug on all 5 of the different slide/bolt assembly manufactureres. After a bit of trouble shooting noticed the nose of the frame droops a bit - which is BS. I ended up polishing the front crossbar a good bit and eventually got 2 of my PSA Dagger slide/barrel assemblies to work. Have not had much look with other manufacturers - must be something with the tolerances or an out of spec front crossbar. I don’t see how the droop in the nose would effect it, but suppose it could somehow with the frame structure. The front and rear rails are parallel. So the 3 SCT frame seems very deja vu with some of the issues I have read about some of Strike frames with the nose droop and crossbar.
So I’m giving the SCT 19 frames a C overall - 2 perfect and 1 not so much. I plan on reaching our to SCT to see how they respond but suspect if they do offer any remedy, it might be a PITA. I will keep you posted. I guess I’m also going to need to try the nose droop self-help repair process in the resources section.
Below is a picture of the 3 as well as photo of nose droop. I like the grip on the SCT 19. It seems a bit finer than the Polymer 80 but not as fine as the Glock. One noticeable difference is how far the 15-round magazine sticks out for the SCT 19 when compared to a Glock and Polymer 80 frames from - see third photo. Same case with Glock OEM and Magpul magazines. I found that a bit odd.
