Breaking! Shooting at a Mormon church, and the church is on fire

Breaking news!
“....THIS EPIDEMIC OF VIOLENCE IN OUR COUNTRY MUST END, IMMEDIATELY!” Trump wrote.

I've written about this before. These vacuous platitudes that follow violent attacks bug the shit out of me. Why? A few reasons...

First, it's a pointless and PASSIVE platitude that does not inspire, precipitate, nor encourage any sort of action. "This must end!" Or.. "This must stop!" is nothing more than a POLITE REQUEST on its face.

"Hey... if we just keep telling the world that violence 'MUST STOP', the bad guys will eventually abide this demand."
Sounds stupid, doesn't it? It should sound stupid, if you have any sense at all. It's pointless and POWERLESS virtue signaling seen from both sides of the political spectrum..

Instead, it should be phrased thusly: "This violence MUST BE STOPPED." See the difference? It compels ACTION. "We will STOP it." The bad guys aren't going to voluntarily stop. We must stop them. By force. They won't be stopped by "Kumbaya"-type vacuous platitudes, or with polite requests, or by placating them and divining and understanding their "motives."

We cannot PREVENT evil actions. But we can PREPARE for them and interdict them with swift and VIOLENT reaction to mitigate the damages. Evil will not go away of its own volition. But we can take it out whenever it shows up. And if we are prepared, we can virtually eliminate the damages and chaos they cause.

"(Fill in the blank bad thing) must stop," is fucking STUPID.

So how do you and the platypuses plan on stopping crime? 🤔 😆

Seriously?
No. :D I was just making fun of how you were able to use "platitude" twice in a post. ;)
We all know those people are only cognatively capable of making platitudinal remarks. Their knowledge + imagination = zero.
To answer your question, the Mormons brought this upon themselves LINK and you KNOW how I would handle it...

I would not agree that the Mormons "brought this on themselves." To say that implies they did something to DESERVE being murdered. Certainly choosing to not allow guns in their churches does not rise to the level of deserving being murdered... no more than a woman wearing a short skirt brought you know what upon herself.

Of course, I disagree with such policies. But I wouldn't wish harm upon people who choose not to be armed for self-defense. I might think they are foolish. But I don't wish them to be victims of violent crime.

So, how you would handle it... that's how you stop evil-doers. That's what I'm referencing in my original comment. We don't ask them to "please stop." We stop them.

The only thing that ends a traditional war is defeating the enemy in such great numbers the rest surrender. And crush their means of production. Food and arms.

Defending against fanatics like we are seeing now is more like a jihadist pattern. It's a different kind of war. You have to kill their leaders and their self-righteous fighters - who will never quit. Then you have to drive their followers out of your homeland. The collateral damage are the young, low IQ, disenfranchised citizens who bought into their communist or islamic dogma. They need to be reformed - or sent to an asylum or prison if they don't. Or simply go find their utopia somewhere else.

That's like saying the Jews brought it on themselves.

Let me rephrase that. The Mormon Church brought it upon their members by creating gun-free zones in their churches and properties. The members, loyal Mormons that they are, abided by their elder's rules. I wonder what the damage would have been if a churchgoer took out the gunman instead of the police who arrived how many minutes later?
