So, my day started by getting rear-ended!

LKQ is pick your part company with several locations. They go by PYP now. There is one in Daytona and one in Orlando I've been to. LINK

Here is my take on repairing the bumper cover yourself and that it is not hard to do at all. I consider it an "essential" skill if one wants to maintain their car themselves. I guarantee there are vids on gootoob showing how easy it is. A bunch of screws removed with a driver, zipzipzip. By getting a same-color, same-year used cover, the paint should match near perfectly because it has been in the sun for a year, same as yours. A new cover with new paint (especially metalflake) might be a little bit off and you may not be happy with it. Additionally, you will have to take time getting estimates, and being without the car while it is getting fixed, and putting your trust in that the repair will come out correctly and so on. There is a lot of time and variables involved...

I had a similar situation several years back. Wife got hit in the rear similar situation to you but worse damage. We got a check from the other party's ins. co. but within 3 months OUR rates had gone up. I could be wrong but FL sucks in this regard as we are "no fault" and have to carry $10Gs PIP, but everyone pays for uninsured drivers.

SNAFU is WW2 slang for Situation Normal, All Fouled Up

I didn't say I'd never heard OF it. Yes... familiar with the term in the context of WW2. World War 2!!! Also the origin of the "Foo Fighters" band name. That's an interesting story from WW2.

I was in the Navy in the late 80s - early 90s. I said I never heard a single other sailor use that term, "SNAFU." Lots of other acronyms and euphemisms... FNG (fucking new guy). "Sierra Hotel" = shit hot (good at what you do). "Whiskey Delta" = weak dick (you suck at what you do). And more.

He was an LT after all ;)

And perpetually lost on the carrier! Really! They specified that in the "charges" in my subpoena to appear before King Neptune on "Crossing the Line" Day. I still have that subpoena!

I never quite figured out the frame numbering system.

From the research I did, Geico repairs with factory parts if the car is less than a year old and less than 60k miles. The key word used there is offers.

We all said what the hell ever and tarfu and snafu were surely uttered along with bohica and FTN at times.

If the exhaust got bent, I would not be surprised if the whole exhaust line needs to be replaced. I got "bumped" a few years ago while stopped at a stop sign and my damage looked similar and ended up being more than $4K to fix, mainy due to the bent up exhaust system. The other guy had the same insurance carrier we did too.

..-./-/-. On all the chairs in switchgear.
