Switching Gears and doing 80% AK's

Heat treat and temper fire control holes and ejector. this step hardens the area but it's brittle.

After it's glowing red , you dip it in water (some people us oil). After that you heat it to a gray color that's just before red and you let it cool down on it own. This step makes it not so brittle.
I’ve never been satisfied with spot heat treating receivers they are just flimsy. I only heat treat the entire receiver or 80% fully heat treated receivers.

Yes!!!
I shot a few spot treated and they do not feel the same.
It may have been just my imagination, but I could feel flex under recoil.
At 1 time (90s early 2k) there were a couple people doing cold temper for around $10 a unit. But a hassel w/transfers.
I could never achieve a satisfactory treat.
Nodak and American Armory had 100% receivers for under $50 a unit when bought in bulk. Just had to drill for trunions
