An acquaintance wants to sell it. I shot it. It's a mofo. 50 BMG pistol.

Doesn't the vertical foregrip on a pistol make it an NFA item?

I'm not 100% sure but I would remove it anyway and put a bipod on it. The seller is pretty buttoned up. If a stamp is required, he has one. I didn't ask.

I’ve debated getting the Serbu with the screw type breech lock. It’s a rifle with a 30’inch barrel. They have bolt actions too but they cost more.

But this pistol really intrigued me. A bipod, pistol scope… would be pretty cool.

NFA item? I've heard of SBR but not SBC (short barreled canon). Wonder what one of those runs? It'd at least fit in my safe unlike a Barrett.

I did a little digging. His asking price is retail. So there's going to be some negotiation. Low round count as one might expect at 7-10 bucks per round. He said he would toss in 50 rounds of loose ammo, which he showed me. That doesn't appeal to me since I dont know where it came from. I saw the video of the guy with a Serbu who shot a 50 BMG round of vague origin and it blew up in his face. No thanks. I'm too pretty to take that risk. I'll buy new factory ammo.

The going street price is $1800. Which is cheap for any 50 BMG firearm. I'll load up on ammo if I buy it because I have a feeling that 50 cal firearms are near the top of the gubbament list of guns to be further regulated. Probably 50 cal ammo too. If I were a betting man I'd guess Congress will roll over should it come to that. Get 'em while you can.

It's not a Barrett but I don't want to sell a kidney. I do really like the minimalist Serbu rifle too.

The recoil was not as bad as I imagined. The shock wave you and everybody standing around feel when firing this gun is bonerific.

Only if you can do the cat drill with it.

I can never resist the urge go on a jag about cats and cat people.

I was on a date in Seattle. She mentions her love of dogs and that her ex-boyfriend preferred cats. I replied people who own cats are the type who love being ignored. I went on... Ever notice that new age nitwits who have a copper pyramid in their living room and believe in the power of crystals insist that cats also have mystical powers? The tipping point for the two old cows sitting at the next table, who were obviously lonely cat women, was when I said to my date that the funny thing about cat people is even their own cats know they are losers. The girl thought all this was funny. But there were complaints. The manager, who resembled the neurotic maitre'd in Ferris Bueller asked us to leave the restaurant. Cancelled by cat lovers! No matter. I got lucky and they never do.

That's a stock pic btw. I didnt take a photo at the range. But it did have a grip just like that one. Must be factory option.

My habit at the outdoor range is leave the phone in the car. I dont want others taking photos of me shooting and I extend others the same courtesy. I also dont want to be distracted by texts or calls. I could just turn it off but then why carry it? I have been doing this more and more... Leaving the phone in the house when I'm outside working or in the car if I'm doing something and dont want interruptions. It's been very liberating. I have been a slave to the mobile phone for so long that I enjoy it when it's not around. It was an occupational hazard and a personal habit. At one time also having a radio headset in my ear.

I had one of these and thought it was awesome. Coverage was nothing like we take for granted today though. It was pretty spotty. The other downside was it attracted a lot of people's attention. Not necessarily a good thing in my line of work back then. So I had to use it as discreetly as possible.

My BFG-50 is a hoot. It has the 29" bbl and feels like
heavy 12ga load when you shoot it. The side blast
off the muzzle break will just about knock you down.

Prior to buying it "You" should shoot it and see if the
recoil was something You WOULD TOLERATE.

I was wondering the same thing. Some posts suggest it is marketed as a pistol but has a 16.5" barrel and they claim you can add a stock to it. Also seeing it referred to as a "ULR Mini Rifles ", so thinking it is really classified as a rifle?

It's 16.5 as I understand it.

@serger I did shoot it
