What's the "gouge" on Geisler frames? Good? Bad?

At the end of the day there is no "gouge" - either you are willing to pay or you aren't. The clear frame is unique. I have a Geisler already which I haven't built yet (black). I see mixed reviews of it online. My gut tells me it will be fine though there do seem to be a lot of folks who hate it. I just started my first 1911 build in a 9mm today and have a number of P80 builds I am working out kinks in so I won't be doing the Geisler anytime soon. Pick one up and be the pioneer for us ;)

Haha... not that kind of "gouge." It's Navy aviator-speak for "inside info" or "word on the street."

Yep. I think it's cool. I'm not as keen on the frame design. I wish P80 made one. But I think the clear frame would be a cool build.

Now to find that transparent slide.
Now THAT would be very cool and a helluva trick!

How does the grip feel in comparison to the P80 grip?

I posted this a couple years ago when I built mine.

I've done 2 of them and have run into some of the issues discussed.

These were from the 1st batch to hit the market. I have heard, but can't confirm that most of the issues have been resolved. Even if they aren't, they are easily overcome with some tinkering. Most of the complaints I've heard are from people who have trouble if it's not all paint by numbers. I really like the Geisler.

Here is a more in depth video

Great video review but I didn't have to modify any of my PF45 frames with the exception of the Gen 4 PF45 I built. The issues with the Geisler is nobody makes or at least no one that I know of makes a magwell for them and the Gen 5 Glock trigger housings and triggers do not work reliably in the Geisler due to the slight differences in clearances. The rails also need massaging to work properly too. The two things I love about it is the feel and the 19x size grip.

I'm also intrigued, could you use Rook rear rails in them?

The front locking block works fine, but the rear rail module, definitely not.
