I think this is a thought-provoking video. 25 minutes long but worth the watch.
Based on my experience over the years, including a fair bit of "formal" training, I tend to agree that too much emphasis is placed on the "mechanics" of shooting.
For example, I think the oft-referenced concept that where you put your finger on the trigger can push / pull your shots is bullshit. I can sink my finger in the trigger guard or use the very tip... and my shots will be on target. Trigger finger placement is a matter of comfort, IMO.
I think the most important part of the mechanics of pistol shooting is a good grip. Of course assuming good sight alignment and sight picture.
But beyond that it's MENTAL as is proposed by this video. Mental conditioning to eliminate the reactive response (and anticipation) of the explosion in your hands.
