The Truth comes out and SIG is vindicated....

Welcome to the interwebs. Where 95% of the shit you read or watch is a lie or based on nothing or opinion, presented as fact.

The P320 is the most tested gun in human history. Nobody, including highly paid experts, have been able to replicate and thus prove in a court of law that the P320 and it's derivatives just 'goes off'. Not even one.

Yet there are YouBoob hucksters who perform all manner of tricks to make the Sig fire when dropped so they can make money on clicks. Then haters repeat and repost that bullshit because they are in love with some other gun that isn't a Sig. Usually the my gun is better than your gun nitwits. Members of the small dick club.

I can make any gun go off when dropped if I screw with the parts of the fire control system. Even a Glock.

Besides that film flam, you never hear much about the holsters used or the training level of people who were supposedly injured or experienced an unwanted discharge.

"It just went off " is the biggest and most common lie ever told when it comes to handguns.

I think I got something on my shoe.

Certainly, this change of events would exonerate Sig in THIS instance. And while it's a shame that the pitchfork and fire brigade glommed onto this story (big surprise)... Imagine the potential liability for the Air Force (and various LEAs) if the story was true and they ignored it, keeping the pistol in service. While it may NOW look like they panicked unnecessarily... One can hardly blame them for erring on the side of caution at this point.... especially after multiple similar stories (even though this one is now proven to be false).

But is the P320 off the hook because THIS guy lied?

I've honestly got no dog in the fight. I don't own any Sigs.... never really been a fan of them, personally. But I've always known their reputation to make fine guns.

Like Bongo... I tend to place the blame for any unexpected discharge on the person holding the gun. Yet I remain ambivalent on the reliability / reputation of the P320.

A HUGE pet peeve of mine. Caveat emptor.

I lay claim to thirty years shooting all kinds of guns and hundreds of thousands of rounds. A good portion of which went thru Sigs. Including The P320 and others with the same internals. Not a single 'unplanned' discharge. Never experienced a handgun going bang without my finger on the trigger. Not at the range, not on duty, not while under duress.

I'll hazard a guess that I am in the top 5% of gun owners in terms of the different types of firearms and rounds fired. Maybe even a smaller percentage. I have also never once had a squib. I suspect a correlation between those who have experienced a squib and those admitted to the ER to have a gerbil removed from an unspeakable orifice.

In other SIG news, I just got this sassy little 380 returned to me from Sig today. I've had this gun for a long time and often carried it as a backup. I don't know how many rounds I put thru this but it's a lot. It was well past time for springs and a new firing pin. And the safety was sticking even though I had thoroughly cleaned the gun. It's been discontinued so I didn't feel like spending a day sniffing out all the parts and waiting for them to arrive. I sent it to Sig and for $90 they went over it and replaced all the parts that were needed, lubed it and ran a full mag thru it. The sights are fiber optic.

Sig customer support was prompt and courteous.

Lovely little P238(?)

I need to have our P938 sent in for some love. Mainspring upgrade (factory changed the design bc the original ones were breaking), new nightsights installed (ours are oh-so-very-faint).

I really like those style grips you have mounted and almost went with that style for the Garrison. Nice!!

Yep. P238. 380 ammo (in recent times) is more than adequate for last ditch, up close and personal defense. Thie P238 is superior to the Kimber Micro in terms of quality and reliability. I have had both and shot them extensively. Same goes for the 9mm version P938 and Kimber Micro 9. All of the mini-me 1911 lookalikes seem to have gone out of favor. The small Sigs in my opinion were the best among them. Internally, they couldn't be more different from a 1911 but the metal frames and 1911-ish looks appealed to a lot of people. Myself included.

Another great piece in this genre was the discontinued Springfield 911.

Like I have said many times I prefer a smooth grip. I do like the minimalist grips shown in the pic. I have a second P238 that has the factory wood stocks. It's OK. But of the two I prefer the 'slotted' plastic ones.

Buddy of mine has one of those and I shot it.
Never got one because I have other 380 handguns that are cheaper and serve the same roll. G42, Lcp, lcp max, s&w plus.
They used to make a rainbow colored slide version, irridium?
That would have been lovely to own.

I own the p322, 1911 scorpion, and I forgot the model numbers on the 10mm and 9. Xten and xfive I think.
I usually own about 2 or 3 of something if I get on a kick.

Never did know what to make of the Sig debate or why folks piled on one side or the other with such enthusiasm.
I mean the Block guys were pissed that block wasn't chosen, I get that.
But sig grew sig guys overnight and those guys were pissed?
Parts from India mahhn where they poop in the water mahhn....

Guess I only own 2 tarasses. A 327 snub and the new hot 22lr pistol.
Two Girsans, a 10mm and mc9 disruptor.
But usually 3 or more offerings from a brand.

This one has had probably a box, maybe two of shells through it.it had belonged to my in laws. All OEM. Ambi safety, dark wood stocks, all but dead nite sights. I think it’a @ a 2011 mfg year. Plastic serrated trigger and original mainspring and MS housing pre-revision.

We’ve pair of rubber SIG hogues (that may or may not be installed) and the upgraded mainspring & housing etc to do the revision stashed away for over a year. The trigger pin is a BEAR to get out on these (needs a hydraulic press) and so when I send it to Sig Armorer I’ll have him clean up the action & install an aftermkt metal trigger while upgrading the mainspring and ms housing.

These little critters actually handle well and the 9mm through it was surprisingly manageable for its size.

Oh and the Mags for the Kimber fit this and extend down for about another 1/2” longer than. This one, iirc. But is not quite as concealable with it. I usually bring it for a backup.

If all you want is a 380 backup that is pocketable, the Bodyguard, Ruger or G42 are reliable, cheaper, thinner, and lighter. Although the G42 is an inch longer. Sig did offer the 'rainbow' finish in both the 938 and 238. A little too flashy for me, but to each his own.

For a while, I think Sig was attempting to emulate Kimber in offering different aesthetics for the same gun. Like in the photo below. The P938 and the "Equinox". Kimber was first in taking that to the extreme and offering ten different versions of the same gun. Different slide cuts, fancy grips, etc. Kimber capitalized on the fact that first time gun buyers and newbies are drawn to the shiny object in the LGS gun case. Gun candy sells. Unfortunately, QA went out the window when Kimber did that. I read something a former Kimber employee wrote that after moving manufacturing to Alabama, 20% of all their guns had to be sent back to the mother ship - right out of the box. Some say this is behind them now. I've seen or read no evidence of that. I love my old Kimber's. I don't want a new one.

380's on the right, 9mm on the left

Kimber and SIG both produced their own variant of the Colt Mustang. We had one of those years ago as well. (In .380 and Stainless Steel)

Funny enough, years later I didn’t find the SIG in 9mm to react much differently when fired. Not sure why but the perceived recoil was very similar.

Like Sig but was never a fan of the 320 as I think they are ugly but I’m also not a fan of stock Glocks as they are a little too utilitarian looking for my tastes.

If Glock would only do something with those butt ugly square slides. I mean the striker fire function would remain the same, but some judicious sculpting/ contouring would help. Right now it’s a two paper bagger. Yes I know they are ‘reliable’…

Build, sell, and own a bunch of Glock based products but have zero of their slides and maybe one or two Glock barrels. I’m a fan of their slides and most of the internal parts.

I got the Colt Pony Pocketlite (the double-action only version of the Mustang). Worst trigger ever.

Pretty sure that honor belongs to the Kel-tec P11. It's like a 20lb trigger pull of a rusty nail going through gravel.

The Sig trigger was superior to the Colt. The trigger was OK with the Kimber but both the 9mm and the 380 were temperamental about ammo. The Solo was an evolution of the micro 9 and it was a disaster. Kimber quickly took it off the market and offered a voucher for a Micro 9. It was a beautiful but it was incredibly unreliable. The solved most of the Solo problems with the release of the 'Evo'. But even that wasn't without some flaws. Now they have discontinued that gun too.

I have had a Mustang for a long time. Yea. The trigger is a bit long and heavy. Not as bad as the Pony though.
