Tisas slide.

It must be a year or more ago that I read Tisas was going to offer complete 1911 kits for DIYers. Then they changed their minds. The idea what the already very affordable Tisas would be even less expensive because it shows up as a box of parts.

That's a Hell of a deal... 60 bucks. Your basic parkerized slide.

Description says Series 80 so not sure how that fits into the DIY plans.

I may grab one just for a spare. But, that would mean I need to grab a Series 80 pistol. If these rabbit holes and shovels didn't exist I think I could have outbid Musk for Twitter with my spare cash sitting around.

CDNN may be off on their description because everything on the TisasUSA site says Series 70. They could have made a special run of Series 80 and that is why CDNN is selling them. Don't know.

For the un-indoctrinated... this article lays out the basic differences between 70 and 80 series 1911s. This is one of those never ending topics of debate.

To Schwartz or not to Schwartz. That is the question.

I think that the Schwartz should be with you!

From what I've seen those look like 70 series slides, but I cannot be sure as the only real clue I can see o their small pictures is the barrel bushing, and I am not sure all 80 series use the collet bushing.

The big tell would be the firing pin safety plunger. The available pictures don't show this area, the slide is tilted so you can't see.

Maybe Tisas made a run of Series 80 slides, stranger things have been done.

I have a couple of Tisas 1911s. All Series 70. They have a lot of models now. It wouldn't shock me to learn they are producing 1911 Series 80 clones as well. They have been very dependable. No problems whatsoever. Even during the obligatory break in period for new 1911s.

Kinda late to the party, but… you can always modify a series 80 frame to run a series 70 slide (various workaround parts), or just run a series 80 slide without the plunger on a s70 frame.

Kimber and few others have Schwartz safety. Function by grip safety. Which can have issues. Ive never experienced 1.
Colt series 80 and others use different set up, trigger for function of Firing pin block.
Then their series 90s
The difference is totally negligible in my opinion as to trigger weight/feel.
