History repeats itself.
There was a kid in my 7th grade class whose father was very wealthy. Jeffrey dressed like a dandy and his nanny drove him to school every day. Until then, nobody I ever knew had a nanny. He was obnoxious. One morning, Jeffrey passed around a petition, announcing that those who wanted to punch him in the face should sign it so his father would know whose family to sue. I'm not kidding. That's what he said. I didn't know what prompted this request.
When he came to me I read the petition and told him I wasn't signing it. Then I stood up and punched him in the face. To this day, I really don't know why. It just seemed like the right thing to do. He cried and was sent to the nurse. I was escorted to the office and paddled by the principal for my infraction. Yep. I said paddled. Bend over, and grab the desk. Two whacks. The principal said, are you ready to apologize to Jeffrey? I said, "Nope". So I got a third. That day I took the first step in becoming a man.
