Lately, it's been CCI Blazer Brass 124-gr (9mm) for me. Consistent and reliable... and at the lower end of the price spectrum.

Yup, I brought a Target Sports USA membership to pick up a case of that. The nice thing about the membership is you get an 8% discount and free shipping, even if you just buy one box of ammo. It has been great for testing out different ammo. Brownells also has it in stock and on sale at the moment, $260/1000 rounds and free shipping.

For 10mm, Sig sells a 180 gr. FMJ with a claimed muzzle velocity of 1250 fps. Buy blems directly from Sig, currently $33/50 rounds. Shipping has been free but I do not know if there is a minimum quantity for that.

Blazer, Federal, Fiocchi. The majority is 9mm 124 gr FMJ. Although I shoot a lot of .45 230 gr. Same brands.

JHPs are usually Sig or Federal HST. Occasionally COR-BON

More recently, replacing JHPs: Solid copper and composite: Underwood, ARX, Norma. I also shoot Fort Scott TUI, but only in my handguns that tolerate it.

I always run a box of defensive rounds as I pace thru my defensive shooting drills. A handgun range day for me is 200-400 rounds. Semi-auto long guns usually twice that and bolt actions for long-range practice is around 50. The same goes for shotguns and shorties.

If I'm by myself (not meeting friends at the range), I'll go through 150 - 200+ in an hour.

I have been using their 115 gr FMJ for years with no issues. Also have some of their 124 gr FMJ and no concerns either. I know there are folks who throw shade at S&B. I'd like to understand why (truly, not a snarky comment). It is an imported ammo. Unsure if that is why or if folks have run into actual problems with it. Frankly, it has been my go to range ammo and I have only tried others due to availability as well as pricing and have had less than stellar experience with some bargain ammo. While I get that it is practice ammo, when you have FTF/FTE issues you want to understand if it is the ammo or the gun. Scientifically speaking, if you change up the ammo then you add a variable to the equation.

9mm No issues. 10mm - forget it. Sucks.

S&B's reputation is ... cheap range ammo. Ranges sell it because they get a good deal on it and the margin is better. My personal experience... Guns that are not finicky... no problem. It has been very unreliable in every 10mm pistol I own - except the G20. The Glock eats whatever I feed it. I've read over and over the issue with S&B is inconsistency. In the same box, one load is hot and the other isn't.

It’s excellent although for fodder (mostly .45) I’ve been using Tula steel case.
I use steel in my SKS, AK, 308 and .45
I use brass in my collector 5.56/.223
My 9’s I have loaded with brass JHP’s but I’ll shoot steel case just as happily.
It’s a gun folks.
