What ya listening to?

But, if we're going to talk about what we like.... a little insight to my own personality....

I'm a BIG fan of RUSH. aka "Your favorite musician's favorite musicians." Let's start with some instrumentals. These guys are MASTERS.

A "Two-fer" instrumental... "Leave That Thing Alone" and a jaw-dropping drum solo. Geddy's bass line is fantastic in this one.

Watch this, if you like music and marvel at the musicianship. Transition is at 5:00 with a drum solo by "the Professor." Watch it all the way through. It's worth it, I promise!

The next instrumental by Rush is "YYZ." This was live in Rio. Watch and LISTEN to the crowd SING along with the instrumental. No lyrics! Those crazy Brazilians!

You'll never see a 3-man band play "tighter" than this.
Also worth watching, even if progressive rock isn't your thing.

So where between FatBurger and Mushroom Head

This is the P80 theme song. I mean what other song mentions plastic so much?

This is one of my favorite Rush songs for Neil's drumming. He goes into beast mode at about 2:55. Then into super-beast mode at 3:45. Just amazing precision and speed and POWER.

I've watched this a gazillion times... and it still leaves me mesmerized and shaking my head. Just an amazing talent... gone far too soon. RIP Neil Peart. "The Professor."

Gene Krupa was the primary influence and the reason why Neil Peart took up drumming.

Neil was greatly influenced by many of the great jazz drummers and incorporated a lot of that style in his rock drumming. There's a reason Neil was asked to perform at the Buddy Rich memorial concert with Buddy Rich's Big Band... watch the whole thing. Promise it's worth it!

Gene Krupa was my primary reason 4 getting my first Blue pearl Slingerland kit, w double toms.
Being a drummer boy in my many schools growing up, I had access to all manor of percussion instruments. I really enjoyed
using the different drums that took your hands.

ROCK ON!

I believe great drummers were born to drum. ;)
