I am not a fan of Holosun as regulars here probably know. I mostly don't love their ChiCom government ownership and their admitted theft of IP from Trijicon. I do believe they are overhyped for being 'way better'. They aren't. Holosun spent a fortune on marketing. There's a lot of good red dot optics on the market and I have first hand experience with all of them. Holosun features and quality are really not an issue. They work as well as any ofter decent red dot and the prices are competitive. I simply won't give those thieving communist bastards my money.

That said, a range buddy of mine asked me if I wanted to buy this (see pic). At first I laughed and said fuck Holosun. After taking a look at it, I offered him a 200 round box of .40 in an even trade. To my surprise he accepted. What I found interesting about this particular Holosun is that it fits on a Glock MOS slide with no plate. They call it the SCS-MOS. I had a G45 MOS in my bag, so I whipped out my Fix-It-Sticks and put it on right there.

I paid $275 on sale + shipping for the ammo on sale and I have plenty of .40 in my stash. So this trade was a bargain. Not to mention the CCP already got their money for this optic so I'm not feeding the beast with American dollars. Retail on this sight is in the $350-400 ballpark.

Solar cells on a red dot are lame gadgetry but I can overlook that given the discount. I like the fact that it sits low on the Glock slide, MOS adapter plate free. I have pondered putting an optic on this G45 for a while and this bargain answered the call. I zeroed it the old school way then and there. Works fine. Green too. Easier to see in daylight. It has a 2 MOA dot with a 32 MOA circle-type reticle.

So now I have two Whoreosuns in my stable. The other is a 507 that came with a gun I took in trade.

The G45 for those not familiar with that model is basically Glock's LE version of the G19X. Gen 5. Note the built in flared mag well and front serrations on the slide. As far as duty weapon Glocks go, I think the G45 is the pinnacle of Glock's achievement. As is the 19X.

I'm confused. You took the optic off the gun in the pic (that you bought) and moved it to another Glock?

I have a Trijicon RMR RM07. I have two Holosun 507s. I like the Holosuns better.

I wish they were American-made. Alas.

While they are a good value, the cheaper price isn't why I got them (though it helped a bit). Afterall, I just put a $1k Aimpoint 1X red dot optic on my new PS90. Fucking Swedes! ;)

It was sort of new in the box. Installed briefly then removed. No idea why. I put it on the G45 I had with me.

You also dislike EVs and refuse to ride in an Uber. :)

I prioritize ruggedness, dependability. Trij and a couple others that tend to focus on military requirements wins every time. But for consumer use, it probably doesn't matter unless you beat the shit out of your guns. I believe Vortex won a recent gov't contract as did Sig for optics. Even the Pentagon/DoD isnt dumb enough to source gear from a company owned by the CCP. They just pay them to create viruses. :)

Holosun came out with a lot of features people liked in the early days but everybody else does what they do now at an equal or better price point. Shake awake was probably the most popular. Even though a gun you carry or keep in your vehicle never stops moving. Dorkises said... Yea, but I put the gun on the nightstand when I sleep! Uh huh. My response was ... So the battery lasts three years instead of two you lazy fuck. :)

I don't "dislike" EVs. I simply have no use for them. They do not meet my needs in a vehicle.

I won't ride in an Uber, because nobody can explain how they are insured and what happens if you're in a crash (liability-wise). I brought this up YEARS ago, and most people just shrugged. I've recently seen attorney ads for this very thing.

I also value ruggedness... to a point. I've beaten my Holos far more than my Triji, since I carry a Holo and have run it into door jambs and furniture and counters more than a few times.

LOL! My EDC Holo sleeps when I sleep. With the ACSS Vulcan reticle (outer circle turned on), I found the battery lasts a year.

I had a first gen Burris RDS. The original battery lasted almost 5 years. You had to turn it on and off manually. That was 2015 if memory serves. I had a G35 slide milled for it. You put the dot on what you want to hit. It worked as advertised.

I jumped out of an airplane a few hundred times. My health or life insurance would not pay if I went splat or spent the rest of my life drooling. :) My confidence in any taxi or ride share paying up if there’s an accident is pretty low. A lot of urban taxi companies are foreign owned now.

There is nothing I loathed more than renting a car at an airport. I traveled a lot and literally gave up on car rentals. I haven’t rented a car more than a half dozen times in the past 20 years.

Maybe things have changed. This suggests uber insures ride share passengers up to 2 m.

LOVE the ACCS retical its what got me to try my second rds the first was an RMR that was always flickering and battery going dead etc.. bought the holosun on recommendation of a former co workers nephew who now has a very popular tuber channel... I actually built 2 identical g19s on lonewolf frames (hate Glock frames everything else is ok) one with the holosun one iron sighted the rmr I was constantly fighting the dot the accs curted that and I eventually got MUCH faster with the green accss than my trusted irons, that gun lives under the passenger side pillow of my bed the twin iron sighted version got same dot and is on my gun belt (these days called a "battle belt:") for when I go into crappy parts of the desert that don't require 10mm,

my second ever employer was a lil company outa Dallas Or. called "International charter Inc" back in the day we provided air service and security for folks usually high profile that enjoyed going into hostile parts of the world for whatever reason.... I have several Browning hi powers that are literally beat to dog s##t from those days.... I don't believe in pampering guns they are tools that 2nd Holosun has been treated same as those old hi powers and has never failed just like those HPs...... Trijicon fixed the rmr then I traded it for an Armalite AR10 that needed work... was best trade ever lol
