I went last weekend. Maybe this weekend.

Anyone else? What are ya gonna shoot?

If it ain't rainin', it ain't trainin'!
When I was on the rifle team I had to shoot in the rain. I can remember blowing the water out of the rear sight for each shot it was raining so hard. Rained so hard at Perry one year the firing lines were the only real estate not under water. Needed a minnow net to get your brass back. That was a long and miserable day.
Nope. I'm a geezer now, and a fair weather shooter. All you whippersnappers can get wet all you want. šŸ˜›

I plan on visiting the indoor range this weekend to put some more rounds through my G-43 problem child build. Expecting a flawless performance.

The M-57 in 7.62x25mm hasn't been out in a while and will also get fired.

I loaded some rounds using X-treme's very thinly plated .30 carbine 110 gr. bullets and over-crimped a batch. They need to be shot up and will make interesting holes in the targets. One shot sometimes produces multiple holes. Got about 50 of those left before trying the new batch with less crimp. The X-treme ogive shape narrows too close to the base which requires they be seated long and solidly crimped to keep from being setback when chambered. Some bullets will fall into the case after seating which is why I use a separate crimping die.

I may end up selling the rest of these bullets and transitioning to .32 cal offerings. Armscore .30 carbine 110 gr. FMJs work well, too.

I skipped January's Action Steel shoot as it was to rain heavily in the morning during the event. And it did... :( I ended up going to our range later that day after the weather cleared with my son and his GF so all was not lost. :) Having worked 100s if not 1000s of times in the rain, I'm not afraid of it but as I have become more "seasoned", I prefer NOT to have to go out in it. Especially if it means having to clean, dry and lube firearms and gear afterwards. :(

We never left the plinking range last month so I didn't get a chance to sight in any guns. A range trip by myself a little over a week ago took care of that. DaggerWolf got the FDE PSA slide from WideLoad as it seemed to be hitting more consistently and accurately at 15yds than the SW1 DLC slide. This was verified with probably my best performance at the Action Steel shoot last Saturday.

Unfortunately, one of the scorekeepers fucked me and failed to enter a score for one of the stages which then dropped me to the bottom of the list when tabulated and uploaded to Practiscore at the end of the match. There are tablets with which the times (and penalties/bonuses) have to be entered manually after every shooter. RO will call out the time to the tablet operator who will then enter it, then hit "verify" which records the score. Technically, the shooter should verify the score and I will be CERTAIN to do that for the next match. Some guys are good and will shout out the score and show the shooter the tablet before verifying. They will also let shooters know when they are "on deck" so they can make sure they are ready, mags loaded, GoPro on, etc. Like me when I run the tablet. :) Some guys are not so motivated... I'll have to see if I can grab the score from videos I took from my son's Insta360 (like a GoPro) I had clipped to the bill of my cap. When I say it was my "best" performance I mean I was probably above the halfway point of the list of shooters (about 40-50) rather than being down around the 2/3rds mark. ;)

Guns sighted-in at the 50yd range were M4gery which didn't require much more than a little windage adj. I'll need to go to the 100yd range to sight it in properly. Unfortunately, the locating pin in the PSA "mil-spec" stock is slightly oversize and wouldn't firmly engage in the DPMS? mil-spec buffer tube holes. NBD, I can always slap a MOE on there but it is always something...

300BlowOut took a little bit to get sighted in but seemed to have nice groups (2") with the sub ammo I used. I'll need to read the directions to the scope so I can get the best performance out of it. Between the parallax, focus and magnification, I didn't know what the fuck I was doing... :D Burned a box of 50 through it with no malfies whatsoever. Ejected cases landed in a fairly small area 10' away at 4'oclock. Also needs to go to the 100yd range for final sighting-in.

I completely forgot I had to check the Guard-D sights on the FirstBorn. So that is one reason I could go to the range.

But to answer the question at the top of this thread: I don't know. ;) If any of the kids are interested, I'll certainly go with them. I'm not going to make a "special" trip to sight in just one gun especially since it takes nearly a half-hour to get there. I DO have a couple older rifles that need the newer scopes on them sighted in at the 100yd range. (K98 and M1917) And the aforementioned AR-platform rifles. But it is always more fun with company. :)

Yup!

34 degrees and 2 inches of snow during our match. It kept the crowd thin so we could have shot both stages twice. But the targets all turned to mush so we called it a day early.

We just started using Practiscore, it was a blessing! The tablets are somewhat waterproof while paper and pencil have very little tolerance for moisture.

What is all that white shit? ;)

Meeting "da boyz" at the range tomorrow. Now.... which guns will I bring? Always the "dilemma!" ;)

Anyone else getting any range time this weekend?

Home. I'm going to pattern a couple of scatterguns

Annual plant maintenance shutdown this week and next. Of course the weather turns nice when I can't go... :(

Went to the range today after helping teach a Hunter Safety class since I was already there. Sighting of guns was on the agenda.

Started with the G30 which I hadn't fired in over a year, maybe two. Same with .45ACP. I forget the face slap 45 gives you. (yeah, I'm a 🐱 :D ) Recoil was definitely manageable, though. I was hoping to run it through its paces at the Action Pistol next Saturday. That's not going to happen as it needs a taller rear sight because it consistently shoots low, but centered. This pistol is a GunVault queen... ;) Bought new maybe 15yrs ago. I paid extra for night sights but probably should have put them on myself.

Next up was Arnie (AR-9). I'll update his post with specifics.

Then I function tested the Dagger slide on the re-glued Freedom Wolf then popped it on the PF940C frame. Both functioned fine...

Last up was Mike (Dagger Micro). I'll update his post with specifics.

I got to be the hero when a guy a little ways down asked me if I had any .22 he could try in his gun. He was shooting the CCI "Uppercut" and it wasn't cycling in his Brand New Beretta 21 Inox. I keep 6 different flavors of 22 not because I'm a nice guy, but because I haven't got around to cleaning out the HF ammo box. He settled on the CCI standard velocity. He insisted I take a box of Uppercut which he bought online...

@Bobster Here's the part numbers for the various height rear sights:

I'll bring the whole set with me when testing out a new gun. Midway and MGW usually have them in stock.

I might hit the range today, the chocolate & peanut butter gun is in the car just in case I happen to find myself at the range this afternoon.

Just ordered a SS 20ā€ barrel for a ā€œbudget DMRā€ I’m putting together. No ammo expenses for me right now. Shooting the .50 got expensive quick so I’m laying back a little for a while to restock

I did this with my friend's CZ 455(?) precision 22LR rifle at 50 yards today. 5 shots. Eley ammo.

Thanks, Alex! (y)
Like you, I have the various heights "in stock". I think I used the 6.5 on Essie (PF940SC) and Midway may have been OOS on another size (6.2?). My B-day is next month so I'll be taking advantage of Midway's birthday discount to re-stock on various Glockish (and Magpul) parts.
The nice thing about factory plastic Glock sights is they push on and off/adjust easily with this $20 debay 3D-print pusher. :) The pusher lives in my "glock" tool box which is a repurposed diamond-plate pistol case and lives in my pistol range-go bag.

PS: I think the night sights on the G30 were "slapped on" by the gun store I bought it from since I had to wait 3days to pick it up (b4 I had a CWP). I don't believe they were for the large frame specifically so were standard "lows". I'm pretty sure Glock doesn't put TruDots on their guns anyway. After 15yrs they have dimmed...
