Yea. EVs are dead.

That will be as big a hit as the Mach-E...
47,000 were sold in 2025. Not a huge number but not trivial either.

Chevy sold 25,000 Corvettes same year.

It's 2035. The Wall Street analyst who bet against EVs throws himself from a windswept crag.

Just like Michelle Pfeiffer has been pining for me since 1989.

I call BS - if they were releasing womething so hidious there would be test mules out in the wild ane it would be all over the internet.
Plus, looking to the Mach-E for something to emulate would be like them looking at the Yugo.
They'd use a successful vehicle for their inspiration.

The Mach-E is really more of an SUV than a sport coupe. It's definitely not a Mustang. But that's the trend. Sportscar SUVs. Gas or EV, people seem to want them.

A 615 HP EV Camaro sounds great to me. My guess is that's not in the cards. People want 4 door SUVs.

I agree... that's hideous and NOT a Camaro, even if they call it a Camaro.

Turn the Corvette into an EV and see how they sell! LOL!
It would be faster. I think people who like corvettes today would buy it. Pairing that suspension with 1000 hp and a low cg, sounds like a winner to me.

No. It might be QUICKER. Faster and quicker are two entirely different things.

Acceleration alone (0 - 60) is but one metric, and it's not important unless you are drag racing a 1/4-mile track. But on a REAL track... a road course with turns, any EV will be a pig due to the weight. Weight is EVERYTHING when it comes to handling performance on a track with turns.

Faster means lap times. And my money would be on the gas-burner for lap times (due to the weight and handling differences)

The difference in weight is about 10-15%. It’s a nit. The weight is also distributed more evenly

When I was a track junkie, we'd spend serious money and / or time modifying to reduce weight by 10 - 15%. It makes a BIG difference. Consider that 15% of a 3000 lb car is 450 lbs. That's a LOT of extra weight. Really... in the track or performance driving world, that's HUGE. Just having a passenger in the car on the track makes a BIG difference in handling.

Weight distribution is also a factor... not much you can do about that with a factory car. But you can reduce total weight a number of ways.

One of the best reductions you can make is "unsprung weight" aka "rotational mass." In short... lighter wheels and tires. It can make a big difference on handling, acceleration, and braking.

In their current configuration, there isn't an EV that would compete with an ICE sports car (a real one) on the track (with turns). And that's why you don't see them on the track. Plus the EV would likely destroy the tires in a few laps.

Same bozos peddling the "Camaro SUV" were peddling the "Corvette SUV" previously

They DO have a HYBRID called the E-Ray! ;)

I'll race you to the chalet! :)

My local dealer had one for a while. Only way I'd buy into the "E" world is an E-Ray

I'd have had to trade my truck, boat, and three of my four dogs kidneys to buy it, but it was nice!

Nobody cares.

What consumers want is a car that goes zoom when they step on the pedal. And most recently multipurpose 4 door, 3 row SUVs that can perform reasonably well in mild offroad experience. And luxury SUVs that are quiet and loaded with gizmos and creature comforts. Nobody wants a track car. Watch the commercials. That's what they are selling. A lot of them are hybrids now.

If you're going to compare performance, then you have to know what you're talking about. Using proper terminology.

Performance is a relative term. The average schlub or schlubette doesnt care about the kind of handling a track car delivers. They will never know that experience. Or need it. The market for that kind of performance is extremely small.

I regret this (article) appears to be the trend. Millennials, Gen Y, etc arent interested in sports cars. Boomers who love muscle cars are preparing for their dirt nap and nobody is going to replace them. Watchj the prices on old muscle cars begin to tank in the next few years.

Motorcycle sales are in the shitter too.

A new era is upon us and every year less people give a shit about the cars we all grew up with. That's how it goes.

I remember my eldest brother coming home on leave during the Vietnam War. After his first hitch of two. He went to the VFW and more than one of the WW2 and Korea vets who probably had one too many suggested that unlike my brother they had fought in a real war.

In a way... same kind of thing with EVs. Read the comments in any online media when somebody is mentioning Tesla or EVs... The "Why don't you get a real car?" posts are numerous.
