5D tactical pro jig do make it very easy. With TapMagic and WD40 cuts like butter.

Eye and ear pro are a must. Do it out side if you can. Freedom chips will fly everywhere. I tried to contain using a box, some what helpful.

After the first one, I think I spend more time cleaning the work area.

Solution: $5 shower curtain from Target.

Over lap work area with clear shower curtain from Target cost $5. I would hold just under the router vent or power switch. Eye pro not needed, all the chips were contain within. Cleanup was a breeze. Also, less skin irritation, most would just brush off but sometimes one or two chip will get embedded in my skin.

All 3 lowers function tested with spare fire control group. I will live test with PSA 22 dedicated upper when it arrives next week.

Outside with compressed air handy is a nice way to go. I'm so committed to it I once cleared snow off the table to do one. My shop-vac blows air downward from the handles so keeping it near the jig helps too.

I weighed the "freedom chips" in the vac once and determined it sucked 78% of the chips into it. A more powerful vac would get more I bet.

Geez just had an idea, in the summer heat a fan would both keep the operator cool and blow chips away! Next one!

I’ve done 5 lowers so far. Three 556, one 9mm and one .22.

I was in a city apartment for years before moving to the sticks. It's a tough tradeoff. Convenience vs freedom. Nothing is walking distance from here, except my mailbox, which I can walk to in my underpants unnoticed. I'm getting more anti-social out here, the sticks turns one feral, haha.

You're very welcome.
What's next for those lowers? Cerakote? DIY anodize? Krylon?

Blue painters tape works wonders for chips. Tape it all up but the top. Use a shop vac hose.

I like living in the stick's where else can you shoot in your yard and no HOA ,LE or neighbors care or notice .I lived in apartments growing up and can't stand them or HOA's , great post.
