There's one for sale in my nick of the woods. Gently used and for what I think is a good price. All I know is what I read on their web site and some YouTube reviews. The reviews are very good. I tend to take comments and opinions of reviewers with a grain of salt. They get paid to do those. Sometimes directly and other times indirectly thru ads. Not just with guns. There's a lot of people reviewing just about everything under the sun.

If anyone here has an opinion or better yet owns one of these Shadows I'm interested in hearing it. The model that's for sale is a CR920. It's their sub-compact.

I had an MR918 which was essentially a Gucci Glock gen 4. No issues. I know they had some teething pains when the CR920 was first released. I believe those have been worked out. The only other thing is the CR920 uses proprietary magazines which were scarce at the beginning. I don’t know about now.

Edit to add: I’ve been considering the CR920 myself. I just haven’t pulled the proverbial trigger yet.

They are part of the Gen3 Glockoff bandwagon. Some better some worse.

The price is right. I have looked at the smaller Glocks and I'm leaning in the direction of the 43. My G48 is fine. I just want a second handgun that slightly smaller and lighter but still in 9mm. I have been leaning toward the G43. Something that will work with a pocket holster. The G48 is just a little bit too long for that. The CR920 is effectively the same size and weight of the Glock 43. Buying the used Shadow will save me $150 bucks over a new G43. The seller said he would let me put a few rounds thru it at the range. Can't beat that. If I like it I'll probably go for it. I just dont want to find out afterwards it's less reliable than the Glock.

I have a DR920 Elite that had a very ROUGH break-in period. Barrel was out of spec so the gun was a total lemon (couldn't clear 2 mags in a row without a malfunction) for the first ~300 rounds before I was finally "allowed" to tell Shadow: "Hey something is seriously wrong here."

They took a couple months to get it back to me but were very professional about all of it.

After getting it back I haven't had any problems since. Love the look and the feel of the gun. It is hard to truly explain how nicely the frame sits in my hand, it just rests snug and peacefully unlike factory Glocks and even P80s.

Their optic mounting system is also amazing, love it.

The price seems high but it is worth every penny. Much better than just a "Glock clone", it is what a Glock should be.

I'm going to check it out around noon today.

Done deal. I liked it. Now it's mine. First impressions are that it is indeed a Gucci Glock. Similar but more refined. I put about 20 rounds through it before deciding.

I make my own pocket holsters. The magazine breaks up outline of the gun. Carry optics are almost like cheating.

I'll repeat that I am no expert on guns or optics and probably will never be. I do understand why red dots are useful. My opinion is that a gun I'm going to pull out of a pocket and quickly fire is not going to be improved by something that helps me aim better. For this pocket gun, to be able to draw and shoot accurately within a couple of seconds is my goal. That's the instruction I received from Bongo. He demonstrated by putting five shots in the X at 15 yards within maybe 3 seconds at the most. I can't come close to doing that but I'm working on it. The gun in that demo was his carry. I don't recall what make but it was a subcompact type. I should mention that the grumpy range officer had a hissy fit when he did that. Range rules don't allow drawing from a holster.

There's another member at my range who has a smaller compact type handgun who shoots really well. Older guy. The one thing Ive noticed is that with skilled shooters, their motion is smooth and natural. Almost relaxed and casual. They aren't pausing, squinting and looking down the sights trying to line them up like me and just about everybody else. They raise the gun and pull the trigger in one motion. These guys load the magazine, stick it in and empty it quickly one shot after the other like it's second nature. I'm still at the stage where I'm tense and overthinking it. A memorable Bongoism was: Stiffen your wrist and relax your grip a little, you aren't choking your chicken. Also: Keep your f___ thumb off the slide! Reminds me of Kindergarten Cop. I mentioned before he said stop overthinking everything. I explained this to my wife and she said it sounds like gun yoga.

Here's a photo of my new pride and joy. Not quite as nice as the stock photo I posted. Three magazines came with it but no holster. Alabama Holster told me the Glock pocket holster will work. I was disappointed last night to discover that they dont have one specific to the CR920. I will look around some more.

Nice! Congrats again.

As for pocket holsters, you might check out Remora Holsters. I looked and didn't see Shadow Systems specifically mentioned. But they don't list Polymer80s by name, either. However I was able to get a perfectly-fit holster for my P80 with an optic on it after exchanging some emails with the owner.

I've bought several holsters from them. Good stuff for a reasonable price. I like their new "Gen 2" material over the original (which is still available, too).

I haven't considered soft holsters. I've seen gobs of them in the gun shops. Haven't tied them. Or even leather. My experience is limited but I do have an affinity for that audible click you get from a kydex holster. My G48 is in a Tulster holster and I really like it. I appreciate the craftsmanship of some leather goods. Holsters included. I'm pretty active and I need the gun to stay put. I don't care what a holster looks like.

Do those Remoras and others like them actually stay in the pocket when you draw the gun? One of the things I like about the design of the kydex pocket holsters is that they are rigid and that hook shape all but guarantees it's not coming out of the pocket when you pull the gun out. They also have the thumb press tab. Someone showed me one with a small Ruger and I was impressed how well it worked and hides the outline of the gun. I haven't reached Dockers/Dad pants age yet so concealment is more difficult.

Shadow Systems pistol profiles are all "Gen 4" pattern copies of the similar size Glocks. The CR920 will fit in a G43XMOS or 48MOS holster.

In my experience with the larger frame SS DR920, it fits perfect in a Glock 17 holster. BUT!! I always run a light so the holster retention point is on the light not the frame which gives you more wiggle room.

I have a holster from T1C that was specifically molded for the SSDR920 and compared to my Glock17 T1C holster the fitment is more precise. So much so that a PF940v2 will NOT fit despite the PF940v2 fitting in the Glock 17 holster.

Point being.. I would imagine you will have a similar experience with the CR920 fitment.

To my knowledge, there aren't a whole lot of kydex pocket holsters out there.

Absolutely. I use the Remora with the S&W 642 as an EDC pocket carry. No problems at all drawing it and having the holster stay in the pocket.

I also use the Remora for my larger EDC gun (also pictured) for "around the house" / in the yard, walking the dog. It's just quick to slip it in my waistband. For actual carry of my EDC (P80 PFC9), I use an OWB holster from Blade-Tech, reviewed here.
