Had an 04 Nissan Titan that had me stranded in a parking lot once. Figured I’d slide under the truck and smack the starter with a wrench. Surprise!!! Googled on the spot WTF??? Fortunately after 15 minutes it decided to crank. Still acted up occasionally until I got rid of it. I’m also aware of the Northstar motors having this lovely feature. The one in the trans housing is new to me but I’m not a mechanic by trade.

No doubt... US domestic cars, eh?
Not sure on the oil plug.
The starter inside the transmission is a Bentley.
Inside the engine is a Toyota. (Guessing 4WD and they wanted it high mounted and protected for fording creeks etc.)

I am experiencing this feel myself now.
Wifes older 2006 Kia. Throws code for transmission temp sensor. I was ordering the crank position sensor anyway and added it to the cart. $14. Looks easy enough to change....nope. The sensor is inside the transmission and to even get to the pan requires removing a bunch of stuff just to see the pan. Internet says dealer wants $700 to change it.
Of course when she hit the deer and I had the whole front end off the car it would have been a lot easier to access, but no code at the time.

My wife's car gets a trouble code and goes into limp mode once in a while. Usually when I drive it because I have a "heavy" foot. ;) She never has an issue so it rarely bothers me... :D Anyhow, code says "transmission input rpm sensor" or something like that. Guess where that one is? INSIDE the bellhousing area and this is an AWD model so all that "extra" stuff to deal with. Ain't happenin' on MY shift. ;) I actually have the FACTORY shop manuals for this car and reading through to where the sensor is helped me determine the inaccessibility of it. :(

PS: this is supposed to be the "Funny Shit" page! So stop it! ;)
