I got a fever... the fever for more cowbuilds! Anyone else got a fever?

That's pretty good. The dude is fast. The two gun thing though.. you can't see the guy behind you and you have to hope he's reluctant to just pull the trigger and soon as he engages you. Speed and technique is paramount but part of the disarming technique is to distract and thus delay the guy just pulling the trigger and putting a round in your head. It can be verbal or just a gaze. In a way, like how a good magician tricks you into not looking at what he's doing with his hands.

Anyway that's way off topic. My wife asked me to stop demonstrating the move when people came over. Knack's wife got really upset with me over this. He got a kick out of it.

I highly recommend Krav Maga. If you have the physical ability to do it. It's very challenging. Especially if you aren't a kid. I had at least 20 years on everybody else there.

She doesn't complain about him owning a gun or carrying it. Grew up in a rural area, not a stranger to guns and hunting. But the simulation - him pointing a gun at my head - was not cool with her. Made her nervous. Obviously the gun was safe-checked repeatedly and no mag in it. But just the same she was not amused. She got really mad when I asked him if he wanted to juggle live grenades next. Which I have none - but she probably thinks I do. Then I did the Pachino "HUA!" from Scent of a Woman ... MY wife got pissed. :)

Sometimes women have no sense of humor.

EDIT: She's very traditional southern. And when Mama says stop doing something y'all better listen. :)

So what other games you guys play? Throwing knives down to see who can get closest to the other's toes? The knife between the fingers as fast as you can game? Maybe it is time to get the wives involved... ;)

Easier said than done. My wife is French and it took a while to convince her that American wines were not dishwater. Her lineage is Frankish, which adds a German element to her French DNA. Germans of course are known for being flexible. NOT!

Looks like it would be a pretty close match to the color theme.

I've used their barrels and they are not bad but their website is terrible. I don't understand why they put the caliber on the left side when it is hidden there?

I like the copper/bronze finish. Shadow Systems uses something like that on their pistols.

I have a bone stock G20 that was my alternative bear gun. The default in that category was my Ruger Alaskan in 454 Casull. The 10mm Glock doesn't have the same velocity or diameter as the 454 Casull, but you have more ammo. Is that helpful? Not really, but the 10mm is probably adequate in terms of power. If you miss the first shot or two with a grizzly, it's time to start praying that it kills you swiftly.

I'm not big on match grade anything other than ammo. Anybody can call something match grade. But the Titan barrel seems to be good quality in the photo. Nice crown, fluted, stainless.

Will an oil rubbed bronze barrel help get your G20 project rolling?

Oh boy! I mean... damn you! LOL!

That just might fit the bill! I've heard of HGW, but don't recall their reputation. Anyone buy from them before?

ETA: Their reviews are dubious on many forums, including this one.

I bought a couple of Cerakoted Burnt Bronze slides from them a couple of years ago.
No issues with the slides or the transaction.
Are the negative reviews about bad product, poor CS, or supply chain issues during Covid?

You may have missed it but I also ordered from them. It took around three weeks to arrive after ordering multiple barrels. Not nearly as long as the last time I ordered from Combat Armory which took over a month. The barrel was nothing spectacular but also nothing wrong with it either. Was going after the copper finish on some 9's I was building, and the price was half that of other copper-colored barrels.

The bronze should be a really good match for the AorA slide/frame but I'd bet they would be willing to do the copper finish on a G20 barrel if you asked.

I’m remember a post several months ago from a couple other PGB members got products from Hooper that were fine as well.

Do a search here for Hooper gun. Should come up with a few comments about them.

I have a 10mm complete slide from Hooper. I did have some teething problems. It seems to work fine now. I have been known to put .40S&W through it too. Not 100% with .40 but I have a ton of it and nothing else to shoot it in. According to the internet, I'm either going to blow myself up doing this or I'm ready to join a competitive shooting team because they do it all the time.

The Hooper was used one of my first builds and I didn't have a lot of experience building or with parts then. Was it me or the slide? Now I have a few slides spanning much different price points and qualities. The Hooper is machined very well. On the tighter side of the scale. No burrs or crap like that to deal with. The finish is smooth and even. The barrel seems to be really good. I can shoot really tight groups with it. If I had to guess, I would say the small parts in the slide are Lone Wolf based on the white plastic. The slide is said to be made using 17-4 stainless which is better than 416 stainless.

I may swing over and get a bronze barrel from Hooper to go with my incoming LW slide. Hope I don't get the last one.

It is tempting but the pricing is a bit high for the barrel. Looks like the quality and detail of a $60 barrel but more than double the price.

Small shops often struggle. Clint Corbin for example. Overall I had good luck dealing with him and his wife. The slides were unique and outstanding quality. I heard some people paid and never got their parts. I chatted with Clint and his wife a few times. They sent me all kinds of weird stuff along with the slides I bought. Fun and interesting.

I did hear from his wife that Clint had some medical issues. I suppose that may have been why they went dark.

Reading this made me pull out the 10mm and take a close look.

Survey sample of one Hooper barrel. The barrel is worth every bit of what he charges. It is 10mm, not a flooded market 9mm, not everyone carries 10mm. I was forced to give the barrel a good cleaning which I didn't want to do yet. I'll start at the back and work forward. The feed ramp is not highly polished but is very smooth and even. There are no burrs or shitty machining in this area. The chamber is as smooth as can be. The bore is very smooth and shines bright. There are visible machine marks in the grooves but they are polished. The lands are like a mirror. The crown. This is where cheap can bight you right in the ass. The crown is the last thing the bullet touches and will FUBAR an otherwise great barrel. The crown, under 5x magnification is about as good as any I've seen. No burrs or roughness that I can see. The powder marks on the muzzle where even. A patch pushed through, does notsnag any lint. Barrel slide interface, I put a little extra grease on the lockup area and cycled the slide a few times. The grease spreads out evenly and smoothly indicating good machining. I've seen Lone Wolf barrels, never owned one. To me, they looked well made and worth the price. HGW may well be a LW made barrel. Both are priced about the same.

While the pistol was apart, I took the opportunity to verify my earlier observations. No burrs on the slide rails. Inside the rail is wearing evenly and no chatter marks from shitty machining. There is a nice machined groove where the ejector rides so the ejector can't rub. The firing pin safety plunger is as smooth as any in my collection. I've had to clean out a few of these to get the FP safety working right.

The bronze barrel is PVD coated. My experience is that PVD isn't nearly as durable as TiN or Nitride. Pretty, just not as tough.

It's been awhile but the first 5 shots, after safety checks, went into the X ring at 10 yds. Can't complain about that.

Gotcha back for posting the P80s at Arm or Ally. 😁

I don't have any experience with Hooper barrels but I have a few slides from them. I really like this design although it is an orphan at present. I have the 45 acp version out for coating and am looking forward to the reunion.

The cuts really improve grip on the slide, reduce the weight and while I am not a fan of ventilated slides I do like the looks of this design. Why don't more people put angled serrations on their slides? They give better grippage than straight serrations if they are oriented in the correct direction.

I do have experience with a bunch of G20 barrels other than the Hooper offering. I have had regular feeding issues with Lone Wolf, KKM and Bar-Sto barrels. That issue went away completely when I got an OEM G20 barrel. It seems like the Glock barrels have a really generous chamber and feed ramp. Most aftermarket barrels are tighter, I guess to improve accuracy & to prevent case bulge. I did not have case bulge with other barrels but I do with the OEM barrel. For that trade off I now have a 10mm gun that will shoot anything I have put into it, even the widest of hollowpoints or the flattest of flat nose bullets. @bkbrno How does your Hooper upper feed? What ammo have you used in it? I am looking for a G20 upper for the PF45 frame that Racer made me get, this one might look good with a woodland camo lower.
