So I thought the Gov't Shut-Down wouldn't affect me... :(

As mentioned in another thread, I'm looking into buying a 2011/double-stack (DS) 1911. I've been looking at different makes and models within my budget and dozens of videos on gootoob. I'll update that thread at a later date.

So I found a Turkatto MAC 9mm DS 5" at PSA for about $200 off retail. Less than $800 to my FFL's door. It is in my "cart" and I'm checking out but my FFL isn't showing up on the "preferred" FFL list. 🤔 So I uncheck the box to see ALL of the FFLs and there he is BUT PSA is not letting me add him as my FFL. With no FFL, PSA check-out will let you go no further. It is 11pm at this point so I leave the gun in my cart and go to bed.

Next day I call my FFL to see what is up. Apparently he's had to re-submit his FFL to PSA many times in the past. He had re-submitted the most recent one earlier that morning but that would take a day or more to get him back on the preferred list according to PSA. Complicating things is he had just renewed his FFL in September, the check was cashed but he hadn't received his new FFL certificate yet due to the Gov't Shutdown.  Most of his smaller vendors used the old cert and proof of renewal (check being cashed) to keep him current.

Calling PSA to see what was up, apparently they routinely cull their FFL files of expired licenses, and my FFL's had been culled due to them not receiving the most recent one. They didn't have a record of him re-submitting and the phone rep. indicated it could be days before it "made it into the system" GB must do the same thing because he didn't show up there either. By this time, the price of the MAC was showing up as $950 in my cart so I asked the rep for a "rain check" on the sale price and they don't do that so out of the cart it went. :(

I sent my US Rep an email stating that the administrative portion of the ATF be considered an "essential" department. Apparently it had already been handled by other reps... :) (see below)

Later that day this showed up in my emailbox so maybe there IS light at the end of the tunnel. LINK I'm assuming the ones that process NFA items also process FFL renewals. 🤔 My FFL has been re-submitting his old FFL cert and proof or renewal to vendors--whether or not the vendor will accept remains to be seen but many are... It says in the article the backlog could be up to 10 days.

I thought we might have to send $$$ to our son (US Marine). But apparently, they fixed that problem.

Welp! I stand corrected! Apparently, Dems are blocking the attempt to pay the military.

So the vote was 50 - 44, failing to meet the 60-vote threshold.

Here's my question. Maybe someone here can help me find the info. Republicans have 53 seats in the Senate. So, who are the three that either voted against or abstained??? Where can I find the bill and the voting roll call?

So, why did so many republicans NOT vote!?!??

BOTH Senators from North Carolina did not vote.

I can't answer the question as to why they didn't vote, but if the Dems voted no to paying the military as well as no to reopening the government, then all of their aides and security should be revoked as well. If they are keeping the government closed, then those people are not essential for the senators to say no.

Well... in a "fair" world... sure. In the real world... never gonna happen.
