Video Ay, ay, ay... People are STUPID (with guns).

I love bypassing the NICS with my CC - more than once while I was (comparatively) breezing out with a new firearm or three there was someone trying to purchase only to be told that NICS was not responding and that they would need to wait.

Hmmmm... still listed on websites about state gun laws.
I'm in NC. If I want a new handgun, I have to go to the Sheriff's office, fill out a bunch crap, pay $7 for each permit (I think $7 each, it's been a while), then wait 2 weeks for me to get the handgun purchase permit, before I can buy a handgun.

Just recently I found 5 handgun buying permits that had just recently expired. You can buy as many as you want for each trip to the Sheriff's office (1 permit for each gun), so last time I went, I bought a bunch of them. You have to use the permit within 5 years after buying, or they expire.

EDIT:
Oh crap, they did change the handgun buying permit law in 2023.

Lol, it's been way too long since you've bought a new handgun! Time to go shopping!

My rapid-access "safe" or "lock-box," if you will... is not a small "gunvault." Mine is big enough to hold half a dozen guns and then some, and it's bolted down. You can't move it unless you take the nightstand table with it.
Do you have a mini-fridge on the other nightstand? 🤔 😆

Cannot get it to post right, so click the link at the bottom of the picture

I saw that one on X I think. What a doofus. This dude doesnt have the common sense of a horse. It amazes me how stupid some people can be with guns. Why is it always some fat guy that looks like a grown up Pugsly?

In case I want to offer the intruder a cold beverage!
Didn’t know you moved to California. Believe that was part of the new gun law legislation that went into effect in California last week. Have to document your efforts to peacefully disarm the intruder and part of that is offering them a cold beverage while they have a gun to your head.

Man bun too. Is that still a thing?

I tend to follow popular trends when it comes to hairstyles and fashion. I've embraced the Ed Grimley look. I must say.

I'd bet he had it in his pocket. No holster. This is more common than many may think.

There's a guy who is a member at my outdoor range. It's actually a private club and we dont have a lot of members. He shows up with his Ruger 9mm in his pocket. Only two members are certified RSOs and they are usually only attending when there's a match or to practice on their own. Little to no enforcement at all - except when there's a match.

The RSOs wouldn't let him compete in matches without a holster. I took the guy aside and suggested he might be headed to the ER if he doesn't get himself a holster. Especially with a striker gun. I could tell that he is not rolling in dough and probably has to trade off something like not paying the electric bill to spend 60 bucks on a holster. I looked thru my holster morgue and found a multi-gun type and one of the half dozen cheap gun belts I never use and tossed both in my truck. Next time I saw the guy I gave them to him. The gun fit just fine and the belt was one size fits all.

Mostly I avoid other people at shooting ranges. This not being a public range you see the same people all the time and they are all locals. You have to tread skillfully with some of these folks because they are country and don't want anybody's advice or charity. There's only a couple of us in the club who are former Yankee city slickers.

I had some training and gained experience in that during my former life. A couple of UN social workers were on a mission to visit small villages in Chad to explain and hand out birth control to people who we would consider tribals. Drought was making life there barely sustainable, so these geniuses decided educate them on the benefits of not procreating. The elders briefly discussed the concept of birth control among themselves. Then killed the two UN representatives. Both women. I was on the team dispatched to recover the bodies.

The moral of the story is there's a right and a wrong way to offer someone help and advice. Especially if they didn't ask for it.

And I'd bet he put his finger on the trigger and then pulled it. He fired the gun.

Very true. It can be a very fine line even within your own culture. In a FOREIGN culture??? Yeah, it can get you killed.

The dead do-gooders showed up in this village and engaged the women in a conversation about birth control, which is completely foreign to them. Then met with the leaders who were all men and gave them condoms. None of them ever heard of such a thing.

Several miscalculations:

1. Thinking the women were liberated westerners and talking to them first
2. Disrespecting the tribal leaders by doing #1
3. Suggesting to the men that fathering children was a bad thing
4. Acting like they were somehow in authority

We went in heavy but had no issues upon arrival. These people are primitive and their customs go back thousands of years. Procreation is associated with survival. Like how people used to have a bunch of kids because it was far more common common for children to die than it is today. They interpreted these two visitors as purveyors of what we would describe as evil. They were friendly and glad we showed up to take them away. There were no arrests or punishment that I'm aware of. It was swept under the rug because somebody at the UN realized this was a major fuckup. The interpreter said the tribal leaders wanted us to get the bodies out of there asap. Even though they were dead, they were still emanating some sort of bad mojo.

Originally, it was suggested an extraction was needed and they were being held captive. We were told one of them was an American. That was a lie by some asshole at the UN. They did that to get the US to lead the extraction. Turned out one was from Norway and the other Germany. They were never prisoners. They were killed the day they arrived.

Amusing anecdote: On the flight back to Morocco, the interpreter told me that the tribals thought we all smelled bad. To us, their smell would knock a buzzard off a shit wagon. :)

Wish I had that crystal ball but wasn't there and I don't believe the article went into the cause. Could have a trigger tech trigger on his Glock and he dropped it, could be a Sig and holstered in an unapproved holster and the trigger was activated or didn't receive the recall work, could be a 1911/2011 and was dropped. The point is, UD's can come happen different ways that don't necessarily involve someone pulling a trigger.

On the flip side, you are probably right and the guy was just a dumb ass or was not using a proper holster. I like the idea of people being able to carry a weapon, but I do think gun owners should be more educated and or realize they need to be way more careful with their weapons and how/in what they carry.

When you bathe in cow piss, it's no wonder...
I've heard the ARVN said the US troops smelled like greasy meat.
So, your diet influences your natural "fragrance".
I think I'll just stick to Zest and Old Spice. 😋
