Yikes. Was he looking down the barrel???

According to Fort Worth police, the man was on the firing line when he experienced a malfunction with the firearm. While trying to remove live ammunition, the gun discharged, striking him in the head. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

I went to the local gun shop today to check out optics for the PS90. I got there 20 minutes after they opened. The range was PACKED full. The waiting area was packed. And there was a line to check in. I haven't seen it that busy in a very long time. I expect it was all the people who got new guns for Christmas and had the day off today. Scary.

Yikes. I think I would’ve left. Lol. So the report says they’re still waiting for “official cause of death”. Ummm isn’t it obvious? Who’s the coroner? Capt. John J Hindsight?

I drive a bit longer to get to a range that is not in the thick of things. I won't shoot on a packed range. There are too many clueless idiots out there trying their hardest to earn a Darwin award. I don't want to be taken out as their collateral damage.

I ❤️ my shooting range. It is rare for me to encounter any other shooters unless I am there for an event.

I would probably not have become involved in this hobby if I did not have access to this place. I am more of a tinkerer that shoots as an excuse to have the hobby. I enjoy putting blasters together, testing them and troubleshooting them when they don't work. That would not be safe or practical on a range with unconsenting strangers present.

WOW! I just read the article and realized that was at Shoot Smart, which was the range I used when I lived in Texas. It's a damn safe range with good employees. This was a100% a dumbass doing something stupid that got him killed. I feel bad for the range staff and owners who have to deal with the fallout caused by this idiot.

I can think of absolutely NO reason the barrel should have been pointed at his own head. How the hell was he trying to clear the malfunction that included that genius move?

A range I once frequented ... some dude rents a gun, goes into the range and intentionally blows his brains out.

Now there's a man who knew how to manage money. Rather than buy a gun to kill himself, he rents at a fraction of the cost!

I need to move there!

To be fair, my shooting range was empty the last time I was there - just my shooting buddy and me.

Snow was falling off the roof on all of my 30-06 and 223 shots in the 100 yard range, and then in the 500 he was knocking it off the roof with his 6.5 PRC :)

The 9mm and 45 ACP didn't knock much off in the 50 yard pistol range.
