Breaking! Almost All Glocks Discontinued!

Breaking news!
As long as they continue to make and sell their parts, I’m fine. I don’t have any 100% Glocks and I’m sure the aftermarket will fill the void if Glock stops selling the replacement parts.

hmmm GIF

And how will this prevent the criminal misuse with MILLIONS of Gen 1 - Gen 5 Glocks still out there??

Wait! I know! Make it ILLEGALER to convert to a machine gun!

They just need to stop selling to states/cities that ban them. And throw the slip-n-fall lawyers into a vat of boiling oil... :devilish:
I think it would be prudent to let Glock know they should just pull out of the US altogether because no one is going to buy their SHIT products anymore... ;) They already discontinued dozens of models--they should keep going until they have none left... :)

I can see it now, their new trigger system will be a knock off of Sig's only theirs will start going off near large magnetic fields (ie: loudspeakers) or some weird shit.

PS: @Racer88 How are all the boys and girls at GT taking it? They must be on fire over there... :D

It's theatrics, because there are millions and millions of Gen 1- 5 that will be around for literally generations (human generations) to come.

Hmmm... will this affect the availability of parts? I'm guessing no. The millions of legacy Glocks will necessitate the availability of legacy parts... riiiiiiiiiiiight?

Why is GLOCK discontinuing so many models?
In order to focus on the products that will drive future innovation and growth, we are making a strategic decision to reduce our current commercial portfolio. This streamlined approach allows us to concentrate on continuing to deliver the highest-quality and most relevant solutions for the market.
What does this mean for me as a customer?
You’ll still have access to the most popular GLOCK models you know and love—just with a more focused selection.
Will discontinued models still be supported?
Yes! Just like we do with previous generations. We will continue to service discontinued models.
Do these portfolio changes affect law enforcement agencies?
GLOCK remains fully committed to supporting the varying needs of our law enforcement partners. While IOP programs may be affected, GLOCK is prepared to work closely with LE partners to make sure officer and agency needs are met. For more questions, contact your LE District Manager.

They must have been planning this for some time. Should be an interesting next few months and will be make or break time for Glock.

hello there.
my understanding is the new "V model will be made with new internal trigger mechanism that will not allow it to be used or be easily modified to let it go full auto mode. it will not accept the "switch" that is so popular in the criminal inner cities hoods.

Yes. That's what they're saying. But, of course, it makes zero sense and will do absolutely nothing to curb crime. And, of course, that's not the real reason or purpose. The real purpose is to avoid lawsuits. The folly is that it won't accomplish that goal, either.

They have seen the error in their ways and retooling to make only the, soon to be introduced, 1911 variant.

They found one thing nobody had done on a 1911 and intend to flood the market with their secret innovation.

Glock goes modular. I said this would happen. Good, bad.... hard to tell at this point. Can Glock produce a better Glock? Probably. Will people buy them? You bet your ass they will.

Oh! The breast beating and mourning that will ensue! There will be memorial marches, candlelight vigils, perhaps even some self-flagellation! There will be protests by aging, apple shaped Glock owners singing songs and carrying signs that will dwarf the the No Kings rallies. :)

I'm not sure if this new Glock will spark a 'classic' Glock renaissance.

Whenever there is a major shift in the handgun world, there are people who swear they willl throw themslf off a windswept crag before they embrace whatever the new thing is. Revolvers to semi-autos, metal frames to polymer. It's all silly drama. The "I'd rather push a Chevy than drive a Ford" types will always be with us. I just shrug and say have a nice walk. All I want is the most cost effective, reliable, accurate, low maintenance weapon I can get. One that feels good in the hand. I don't give a fuck about anything else.

Glock is known first and foremost for their reliability, which I posit is the result of their genius simple design.

Glock's reputation for reliability is based on a pretty long history. So with a completely new mechanism, they are "starting over." If the new mechanism PROVES to be as reliable, they'll be just fine. But if it isn't, Glock's dominance will be over.

I've suspected they have been working on this for several years. Nobody announces something this big if they are only kinda sorta thinking about it.

A lot of people are loyal to brands. If they have a great experience with "X", they will tend to embrace something new from "X", swearing on the souls of their children it's even better than the previous generation. Others will be sad and criticize whatever is new. Human nature. Me... I'm missing the chemical in our brains that makes us fall in love with celebrities, jocks, or brands.

What would be interesting is Glock sponsoring a trade in deal. Your old Glock for a deep discount on a new one. That might take some of the wind out of the sails of states who are suing them because the Glock is "so easily" converted to full auto.

Glock sales have been falling for some time and are not dominating the new handgun market. That belongs to Sig but with their recent 320 debacle that could change. On the other hand, S&W and Ruger also sell more guns than Glock. The redesign could put them even further behind if they keep their boring duty based guns but in a platform no one else supports.

The Glock polymer based frame is not groundbreaking anymore and, if the aftermarket does not adapt, they will continue their fall but at a faster rate. This is not is a good move unless they use it to inject excitement into the platform. I have a feeling they will fail on all counts but let’s wait and see and hope for the best.

My problem is either not being loyal to any brand... or loving ALL the brands. To wit... I've bought a fair number of guns. I've never sold one.

The issue as I see it is, a lot of companies are producing a better Glock than Glock is.
So they think they will be innovating. (Perfection) jerking off motions.
Really all they needed to do was listen to folks.
Ohhh hey some more finger grooves. No.
Inserts for bump or no bump. No.
Chassis type fcg. Put this in any frame. No.
Ehh bunch of other nitpicky shit.

Branding, it doesn't mean shit these days.

I don't own a poorly made 9mm pistol.
Seriously every 9mm I own is a fairly good pistol. Even turks.
Back when I was a kid, there were like 4 9mm handguns that nobody owned.
Some flavor of s&w, Beretta 92, Ruger p89, some old duffers with hi powers.
I probably own 30 9mm pistols. Just counted over 40.

Years ago I owned a S&W m&p and a Beretta that were junk.
The Ruger RXM came with a shit barrel. Ruger sent me a new one.
Beretta offered to sell me a barrel at full retail.
S&W said there was nothing the matter.
