Poll Are the guns in your safe loaded?

*IF* I had a safe, they'd all be unloaded because my defensive weapons would not be in a safe.
Why would they be unloaded in the safe? I'm not sure I'm following what you're saying.
So, you have multiple defensive firearms around the house... loaded or unloaded? I'm confused.

I do have magazines and speed loaders loaded in my safe; however, I keep empty mags or no mag in the firearms. My bump in the night gun is loaded with cylinder out.

They'd be unloaded in the safe as I would not need to get in the safe for a defensive purpose.
I'd have multiple defensive weapons, none in plain sight, and those perhaps would be in small biometric safes.
Sadly, all my firearms went over the side of my boat one day. oops
I used to keep a few loaded but after a while I didn't see the point.
1) I have a loaded firearm on me most of the time unless I'm sleeping or in the shower but it close by.
2) Every time I show off my builds, I would have to unload them, not just do the check to make sure they are unloaded.
3) if someone breaks into my safe. they don't come out with a loaded firearm unless they break into the ammo safe too.
Only my wife and me have loaded firearms in the house that are not in the safe, It's a safety thing. This keeps kids, grandkids, and guests for doing stupid stuff.

I don't own a safe, and every weapon in my home is locked and loaded at all times. Most of them are just propped up against walls in the corners of rooms.

I had to change my vote in the poll. I used to keep them all loaded, but since I've 3D printed a bunch of pistol stands, reality is only the long guns in the safe are loaded. I've always though of it as "I treat them as though they are loaded, so they might as well be loaded." None actually have a round in the chamber, but the magazines are all full and in the rifles. The ones that are in cases outside the safe (the skeet shotgun, Brown Bess, etc.) are the only ones being stored without any ammunition... they have such a long setup time, there is no point to having ammunition with them.
Yep. One could logically argue that the safest gun is a loaded gun. If you KNOW it's loaded, then you won't ever act like it's NOT loaded, eh?
What do the folks with the NDs always say? "I thought it was unloaded."

Only safe we have is in the bug out van. Any weapon(s) in that safe while it’s locked is unloaded cuz if a LEO checks it out we don’t end up in the housegow.

I keep any semi-auto I carry in fully loaded condition simply to keep from reloading rounds and the possibility of bullet setback. Other pistols are unloaded.
Some weapons are considered secondary defensive weapons. HD Shotty has rounds in the tube, but not chambered. AR has mag inserted but is not chambered also. If BLM or their ilk come to town, I can grab and rack fairly quickly.
Collector pieces or guns not in the defensive rotation are unloaded. The thing is being consistent, in my mind. If it's a gun I sometimes carry, it's G2G, I know that when I pick it up. And of course Rule #1, all guns are loaded (not treat all guns as if they are loaded, assume every gun you pick up IS loaded) and check.

Actually, no. I keep the home defense guns loaded and out the safe 3 feet away from me. One in my office, one in the bedroom. The rest are in the safe & are NOT loaded, in case a house fire happens and it goes beyond the time or temp limits of the safe, hopefully limiting the damage inside the safe. there is more than just guns in that safe, and removing flammables like ammo is a consideration in regards to that.
