Here's an article I read that is concerning. I know that privately manufactured firearms are legal but somehow this guy was arrested for having them and he has no bail. Maybe I will send this link to FPC or GOA or somewhere that might help.

OK... that's not working either. I found the article. Can't copy the link for some reason.

Ah! It's because of the word, "👻guns" in the link, which I've censored on the forum to be replaced with the ghost emoji. Let me see if I can fix it.

A criminal complaint from a member of the FBI Safe Streets Task Force accuses Machamer of making and selling "ghost" AR-15s to "known and unknown subjects."

OK... he wasn't arrested just for owning PMFs. He was arrested for manufacturing them for SALE.

Big difference. Yeah... you can't make them for the purpose of selling to other people... in any state.... nationwide. It's a federal offense to manufacture firearms for sale without a federal license.

Okay I missed that somehow 😁

True this ^^^^ but if you want to make some for your friends and family I wouldn't worry too much about the feds. As long as you don't make one for your Uncle Leroy who spent 20yrs in the slam for armed robbery! :D He probably can't legally possess a firearm, home-made or not...

Negative. I've had friends ask if I would build one for them. NOPE! No way I'd do that. They can build one for themselves, just like I did. But I'm not going anywhere near crossing that line... not even for a friend. And my advice to anyone here would be the same. Don't even think about it.

The selling part is the reason, not making and owning.

+1 -- I even shudder at the people who post on Reddit about the "build for my wife". For personal use, to me, means you and you only.

I'm just not going to risk 10 years in prison to do someone a "favor." If they don't want to build one themselves, then go buy one. There are hundreds of fantastic factory guns to choose from. There is nothing THAT special about my builds (to someone else). They are special to me, personalized, and built for ME.

But yeah... even if there was 1 in a million chance of being caught or ratted out... I'm not risking 10 years in prison and a felony record. Not even for one person, friend or otherwise. I'd be a FOOL to do so. It's illegal. The end.

The dozens of parts kits I "resold" were without the receivers that were destroyed in a bonfire.
